My First Map, ctf_gridlock!(Now known as ctf_old)

One flag CTF! Blu fetches Red's flag in the course of ten minutes, with 1:30 added for each cap.

Working on scheduling a gameday soon, remember this IS my first map and I'm still learning the ropes.

Youtube Video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXBc0s1JsY4&feature=youtu.be

Note: The map is not supposed to be symmetrical, there is only one flag.

It's an interesting concept, I'll give you that. There's a couple of things that should be addressed, however:

First of all, you mention that you've tested with bots. Don't do this. Bots are dumb, bots are easy, bots are in no way going to represent what players will do on your map other than attempt to kill things. This is an especially worrisome issue because you say that your map is supposed to be imbalanced, which is the second thing I want to bring up.

Unbalanced maps are fine, of course, for maps that don't require both teams to do the same goal. See: Attack/Defend and Payload. Your concept here is a spinoff of Capture the Flag, which could very well work. You need to remember, though, that CTF is a "symmetrical" game mode and as such should not give an advantage to either team. They should (quite literally) be on an even playing field. That's not to say you can't take license with your ideas. However, you mention that RED team has to sacrifice themselves in order to capture BLU intel. This infers that BLU team doesn't have to do the same, which pretty much means that when RED gets a point they're automatically down a player. You should/could/need to do the same thing for BLU team or else the map isn't just imbalanced -- it's unfair, and unfun to play on.

Also, you can take better screenshots by going into spectator mode and enabling sv_cheats 1, cl_drawhud 0.

I HAVE DONE TESTS WITH BOTS THAT CONFIRM IT IS BALANCED, I HAVE YET TO PLAYTEST WITH ACTUAL PEOPLE.

That, my friend, is a problem. Remember, bots don't think the way people do. If you base the balancing of your map on how bots think, you will have made a worse map. Instead, try to guess how real people will behave in your map, then test it in a gameday to see if you were right.

I was working on updating the post here after I took down the video(as it became outdated when I fixed some things) and my computer crashed, so the post here wasn't updated, but the video got taken down. I'll put a new video up soon.
