Using GMod props

I got some models in GMod I would like to use as props in my map (specific style of trees, rocks, flowers, decoration etc)

Is it possible to get Hammer Editors Model Browser to look into your GMod Addon folder? I'm hoping it is easy as it sounds.

If not, I'm pretty sure you can just copy the folder/files hierarchy into your tf folder and it'll work fine.

I've been looking at the folders and it's a bit confusing. GMod addon folder uses GMA files while Hammer's Model Browser seeks .mdl files from specific folders in the Team Fortress folder, these models on files that I can't see on My Documents.

Are there no materials or models folders somewhere within your gmod folder?

oh right...I think you need to look for a gma converter. I know it exists because I had to use it once to put garry's mod assets into Filmmaker

There is a Material folder that leads to a folder called "spawnicon", follows by "models" and various folders of my addons, but they only contained the PNGs of the icons on the GMod prop selection menu.

What is the converter you use?

I don't know. I only used it once - it worked - I haven't used it in ages. You're just going to have to look for it through Google.

A'ight, thanks for the assist. I have a Green Hill Zone pack which would be most useful.

This is just me guessing blindly, but could it be as simple as the gma files being archive files that contain normal source engine files? If you are really lucky it might just be a renamed zip/rar/what have you file.

it might be, but then why would a gma converter exist?

btw, as a sidenote, it's kinda lame that gma files exist when it's kinda convoluted to add stuff to the GM workshop to begin with.

Also, a side question which I didn't think be worth it's own thread. Is it possible to use specific death animation on field hazards? For example, water that freezes you like a backstab from a spycicle. I know probably won't make Valvalla until I am more experienced, but curious if it has ever been done.

That's a Boojum question, but I think it's not likely without plugins.

well with the ultimate resource pack instaled, at the trigger_hurt damage-types is a freeze option which says "leaves a body double" Does this mean if we select this damage-type player will freeze like they got spycicled?
