Encountering this issue now, Hammer will load anything under about 5.5mb just fine, but any vmf over that (virutally all of my vmf's) won't open. They get to 33% postload process then a second or two later hammer closes without any fanfare.

I'm running hammer from "common/team fortess 2/bin" and both TF2 and SDKs are all up to date with fully verified game cache.

Anyone know what's up?

I wish a had a better way to let people know about updates when there is an important one like this. :( I keep seeing this problem pop up in posts and PMs.

I find it interesting though that you found it related to size. I wonder if that was a coincidence. As best I could tell it had something to do with the new item_* settings (maps without any load fine).

I suppose I could do that next time. But that won't do anything for everyone that is offline at the time. Which is mostly the problem I was getting at, any option is only going to get a fraction of the people.
