Noob question here, to get a map properly working with SFM I assume it must meet this checklist?

I am currently part of a crazy group project to port over Doom 3 stuff because movies. Getting custom levels working in SFM seems to be the last hurdle. Unfortunately the member who was in charge of level design left, thus it falls to me to learn this the hard way.

That checklist is geared towards gameplay. Depending on what you're trying to do, for Source Film Maker, a lot of that can probably be ignored. The most basic thing you need to get a map running is for it to be sealed and have a player start.

I know very little about SFM. I messed with it for about an hour or so. But as far as I could tell, the map is just basically a set. So I'm pretty sure you could make a map consisting of nothing but a single brush and a player start surrounded by the cordon tool. Then record yourself running around in it. And then make a movie of it.

You can just do them like any other map, the only absolute requirement you need to do is compile the map in HDR along with LDR, and compile the cubemaps for both (you have to do this in TF2 and then transfer the .bsp over to Source Filmmaker).
