Have I been using the wrong hammer?

Okay after looking around a bit I have seen that some people are talking about the SDK hammer (the one you go through tools then find the SDK) is not really used and another version of hammer is being used

1) Is this true?
2) If this is true where can I find the better/other version of hammer?
3) Why not use SDK hammer?
4) Will my map I made in SDK be compatible with this over hammer
5) My map when I try to open it in SDK hammer keeps on saying fatal error and lists a model and then closes hammer how do I fix this?

Or I could just be crazy

They borked hammer in the SDK. Go to steam/steamapps/common/Team Fortress 2/bin and there should be hammer.exe and .bat

Okay I have found it however


Why was there a troll face texture there as my current selected texture when I opened it?


My red/blue engineer spawn things have been replaced with green Gordan Freeman's are these still spawn points

Trollface: a custom texture you downloaded off a server somewhere sometime

Gordon: that is the default. the engineer is part of my pack (in my sig) and you will need to install the current version which works for the new hammer filesystem.
