[Request] Resized Trains

I'm not sure If its been already done, but can anyone resize most of the trains to fit the minecart/payload tracks? Heres a pic of what I mean: http://imgur.com/7XyZ0Az

You can always make train tracks out of brushes and use the train track texture for the sleepers.

Well, answering both of your questions, the payload cart can only go on those types of tracks and there are no curves on the big tracks. It would also look rather odd having 2 different sized tracks in my map

No, it wouldn't. Multiple sized tracks were used all the time.

What you're proposing is scaling down the trains to fit on the narrow-gauge track. Narrow gauge was used very often in mines and that because they were cheaper to build and were able to have tighter curves.

The larger gauge, the ones you see on the big trains in TF2 was (and is) used over large distances with large cargo because they could achieve higher speeds and hold more weight (Allowing for up to kilometer long trains)

As you can see, there's plenty reason for narrow and standard gauge railways to be together, perhaps the international railway passes by your humble mining town which uses narrow gauge because of it's inexpensiveness to build. This was often done in real life when the mine/logging complex used narrow gauge and then transferred it to the standard gauge trains nearby in order to cart it off to distant cities or countries. (This could also make an interesting building to play in!)

Larger gauged trains can run on smaller gauged track (although the length of the engine/carts in TF2 wouldn't take the tight curves very well at all) but they don't do it by scaling down, they do it by exchanging bogies (the little things that their wheels are on).

If you were to scale the bogies down to fit the narrow gauge track, you'd see how absolutely ridiculous it would look and how inefficient they'd take to the track curves and slopes.

There is already a narrow-gauge steam locomotive in the game, I recommend you use that.

Ty for the explanation. I'm making a payload trainyard map, but dont you think it would look a bit ridiculous to have a small track in the middle of larger tracks? Also, there are no curves with the larger tracks.

I guess the question now is why you want trains and the payload to run along the same tracks to begin with. What is the theme of this map you're building towards?

My map is set in a trainyard, so personally, it would look odd having large tracks and a random small mining track in the middle. Also the larger tracks are limeted. There are no curves and all the other fancy things the mining tracks have

It would also look odd having "real" traintracks the size of those mining tracks, to say nothing of actual midget trains running on them. (They'd be, what, half the size they normally are?)

Here's what I'd suggest, though. There are people here who are capable of making custom props for your tracks. And if you stick to the sort of gradual curves you'd see on a real rail system (look at Foundry as an example), you could make a map where the cart is a repurposed handcar. Just use placeholder brushwork for the tracks and the cart, and then if and when it gets to the detailing stage, request custom models for both.

The handcar thing sounds pretty cool, but now I guess I'm going to have to make a request for larger mining tracks XD

It's not uncommon for tracks to have two gauges, especially in places like europe where different countries have different standards.
