Hey Everyone, So it's that time again where we're opening up some admin positions for people who want to help out the site, both on the Site and Server i.e. the Site and Server Staff teams. The 2 groups are looking for different things and I would suggest if applying you decide one or the other.

What were looking for from each team are 2 different things. Members applying for Site Staff positions we're looking to have a desire to help push our community forward with these goals in mind:
  • To help grow communication between us and other communities and competitive groups
  • Creating and maintaining site contests big and small i.e. major and minor contests
  • To help update our website design/layout etc. (example of previous work will really help).
Site staff isn't really moderation heavy but previous experience is a bonus. If any of these sounds like goals for the site you're aligned with and want to help out with give me a shout over PM with what you're looking to help with, what your plans would be and why you think you'd be good at it/ why we need you.

The Server Staff group has been dead for awhile as all of us we're moved up to Site Staff to help out. Plan is to reopen this admin group with these goals in mind for it:
  • To combine the steam group silver stars feature with this group.
  • To have move people actively moderating chat
  • To have more people available to help members with setting up tests.
  • To have a team dedicated to keeping our servers running nicely with ideas and the know-how on how to make them better.
  • To help keep our servers more of an active place (running tests aswell as casual play)

If any of that sounds like something you'd be interested in give me a shout over PM and post here stating your interest and tell me your prefered form of contacting you. Also, people who were not taken on in the previous staff application are more than welcome to apply again.

Again, like last time, don't make this thread into a popularity contest.

I'd like to apply for server staff. I'm interested in hosting impromptus for people since current server hosts aren't always available when they're needed. (But I can host gamedays if the normal hosts aren't available). I'm in chat often, or at least as of late I have been.

I also have experience hosting servers and setting them up since I've been maintaining the lowlagfrag servers and editing them until the play has been how the regulars enjoy it to be. (Of course it's different on tf2maps' server where we try to keep what the standard of tf2 play will be, but just thought I should mention).

Apparently people call me nice to work with, but you can ask the chat if I am, hopefully they support me. o.o

Things:
  • 3 years experience as server admin for group of 27k members
  • Know how to maintain servers post steam pipe update
  • In chat often
  • Know how to work with Sshfs, Filezilla, Putty
  • Have attended many gamedays and enjoy playing them
  • I have a microphone (so I'm heard more often in-game)

Hiya,

Seeing as the opportunity has arisen, I’d quite like to take this chance to apply for a site staff position. I know I haven’t been around or done much in recent months, and I guess I can blame the looming specter of exams for that. However, with my last exam being in a little over 24 hours, I feel that I should be able to dedicate the time needed for the position now, at least through the end of the summer (and it’s going to be a long summer, at 3 and a 1/2 month).

I’d like to dedicate a large portion of my summer to the Feedback project, which I’ve still yet to really begin working on due to the fact it was rejected as coursework. In addition to this I would, as always, love to help TF2Maps to grow into a larger and more diverse community.

Over the past few years I’ve spent a large portion of my time lurking about here and occasionally quipping in with a useful tidbit when needed. I used to spend a lot of time managing GamingMasters.org, however a personal dispute between me and my fellow managers led to myself stepping down to deal with real life issues a little more. During my time at GM I picked up a number of skills such as:

  • Linux Administration
  • Source Server Administration
  • Nginx/Apache Administration
  • PHP Administration
  • Numerous programming languages including C++, Javascript and so on.
I believe that these skills, and my existing knowledge of the community and the people in it will result in a better TF2Maps.net for everyone. (Jeez, that sounded cheesier than I intended)

I'll toss my hat in for server staff.

I'm a big nerd who tends to be around his computer when not at work, so I'd be available for anyone looking for help on the server. I maintain pretty a pretty minimal sleep schedule, so I'd be around often. I'd also be willing to sit in chat much more than I currently do to help moderate that and help users with their issues when I can.

I am currently the primary admin of the Penny Arcade community server, I tend to be the person who organizes us onto the server/ sends out mass invites, and keeps the server running maps to maintain server population during our usual game time. I've been doing this for around 3 years or so now, I believe. I also used to be, quite a few years ago now, a part-time moderator for the forums of the game Neocron, which was a rather large community at the time.

I'm in my mid 20's, have a stable job, and I'm married. This doesn't always leave me with a ton of time, but you can at least be assured that I won't pull any sudden disappearances or immaturity (ok no promises on that last bit.) I'm all over the 'net under the name UEAKCrash (this is the only site I've ever been able to snag simply Crash on) and I try to maintain a respectable attitude as I know this name is going to follow me in the future.

I don't really have any server back-end experience (although I do run a small, personal minecraft server) however, so I wouldn't be much help in that regard. I do have experience working with an FTP client, however, so minor changes and uploads wouldn't be a problem if it came down to it.

I'm in the Eastern US time zone, if that helps your decision any.

I'd like to apply for Server Staff, please. I've been pretty massively active in tf2m for ages, you guys all know me. I've been pushing for an EU admin for a while now, and as i've said before I'd be a pretty good candidate for it, i think.
  • I've done a bunch of stuff for the community before- running gamedays and imps, judging contests, and now leading the pacific pack. I like to think i've done all of these things well, and server staff status would let me do this sort of thing better.
  • I was thinking of running gamedays and Server Staff status would be handy for this.
  • I've had a little bit of experience with servers and ftp and such before: mostly however i'm generally good at picking that sort of thing up. If you would consider someone without much technical experience, i'm your man.
  • I'm active in chat pretty much all the time GMT, so i'd be there as a moderator, plus i've shown myself as fair and reasonably unbiased before in the judging and stuff. I haven't had much moderating experience, but I think i've shown that i'd be good at it by generally not being an asshole.

Well that post was intimidatingly shorter than everyone else's. Steam is the best way to contact me, although i'll get forum PMs pretty fast too so whatever.

I like testing maps and I'm a regular around here so I would be happy to help out organizing and running tests. I like to think that I'm not a massive dickhead and I don't like having e-peen-waving contests with people on the internet, both of which are desirable qualities in someone who has some degree of power over others on the internet. I'm also online virtually all the time so I'm always available if something needs doing.

However I'm going to be busy for the next month or so, so there's that.

Wow I'm phenomenally bad at this.

Hiya,

I know I have not been a member for too long but I would like to apply for site staff. The reasons I feel this position would be suitable for me are:

I have a very extensive and long back ground in the TF2 competitive community. I am well known by the majority of players in the lower divisions of Etf2l and I have a large selection of friends from the higher divisions (Prem and 1). With this I can easily begin to merge the communities a lot better.

I am free every night and usually hang about in the chat and on steam so contacting me is easy as well.

At A-Level in ICT I specialized in website design and management and have a pretty good knowledge of what to do to a website to make it run smoothly.

I have my own server which I can put to use within the community if you needed it (Its a small server, 12 slots, based in Europe, which I hear a lot of people want a European server)

Due to a large amount of free time I can learn anything you needed me to learn for the position and will be more than happy to learn anything you ask me to prior to this position if I am offered it.

I really like and enjoy this community and as such would be very excited about the prospect of helping it in any way I can.

Thats about it really, you can PM on the forums if needs be, but I would prefer Steam contact (Valkyrie is my name on Steam - http://steamcommunity.com/id/iceman281093)

I'd like to apply for site staff because I think this site is too manly.

It has too many angles, too many dark colours and too much testosterone. This site needs a feminine touch.

If I am elected to be presi... site staff then I can promise 54% more pink and between 30-40% more glitter for this web site.

I will also bring in many other feminine qualities that are currently lacking on this forum such as a monthly cycle of forum drama and install a brand new state of the art kitchen.

I hope you will see that this is by far the best option for this website and I hope you will vote for Aly come election day.

Hey, I'm sure several of you know me by now ("that gay guy who's always here"). I'd like to apply for server staff, because there's not too many super-active server staff admins. Egan is around a lot, but he's only one guy, and as I'm from the EU I'm around at times there's often no server admins on, which I've noticed is annoying when people have to wait several hours for an impromptu.

I'm on most days for around 10-12 hours, and wouldn't be opposed to running impromptus 95% of the time. I've had previous admin experience in several other places (and I'm of course willing to be a little more serious than usual with it); a few times as moderator, a few times as administrator and a couple times as a head admin (though not many of these times the groups rose to be a success).

After donating, and using the VIP powers to run one impromptu (paired with turbo) I'm enjoying being around the server with this stuff, and have previous experience with sourcemod several times so I know most of the main commands.

I certainly won't be upset if my application is declined, because no matter what this a great community to be in. Thank you.

Edit: I'm also not even sure if the applications are still open. The thread is still pinned and the title says so, so I assume so (?)

I'm in the chat most of the time (not to be confused with Grizzly Berry), and can be reached at http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198030362593/

P.S. I'd also like to bring to the attention of the main server admin (geit?) that donors can kick but not gag/mute, this is really annoying because we can't just stop people from being a tiny bit of an asshole, but not worthy of a kick.

Hi, I'm Exactol and I'd like to apply for server staff. I have plenty of experience moderating servers.

Why I should be staff:

  • I'm mod on a chain of 6 servers and admin on 3 other servers. (also admin on a minecraft server, probably doesn't count towards anything because it was my cousins :p)
  • I'm on a lot usually.
  • I love testing other people's maps
  • I'm friendly and helpful
  • I'm in the U.S. (idk how many U.S. admins there are, so that could be a + :p)

The best way to contact me is through steam (I'm the only Exactol I think)

Gl to all of you who are applying. May the odds be forever in your favor (that was cheesy)

I also don't know if these are open :p I just saw it at the top of the page

I really don't know if it's best to post this here (this thread is presumably only for applications?) but thanks to Egan's amazing honesty, I'm going to better myself to suit roles such as this much better than I do now, including being more serious than I have been previously (which is pretty much not at all).

What I'm basically saying is: Please, at least keep me in mind. Thank you.
