My first ever TF2 map. Not the best, but this will look nicer as it goes on.

ctf_cavernconquest is a small to medium size capture the flag map. It has quite a few spots for hiding or building an engie nest while also providing a large combat area.

Bots do not work on this, and I still have quite a lot to work on it - but I wouldn't call it an alpha.

Download link for the .vmf file coming soon!
And of course a .bsp file too. Sorry, I'm new to this so that might be a bit longer.

Made in hammer.

*TO DO*
Add a roof to the BLU intel area
Spruce up the BLU spawn a bit
Add some more sniper accessible spots
Add lighting. When I learn how to : P
*TO DO*

Thanks for reading! Comments and suggestions welcome.

To be quite honest, most people would rather have the .bsp than the .vmf, it allows us to actually play the map.

I know, I'm getting that ready. I just wanted to do a quick post. I'll get both the VMF and the BSP up tomorrow

Note that it's in beta. Yes, I will probably be adding lighting :p

Again, I only started using hammer a week ago and I'm entirely self taught

we may have different takes on what "beta" means here.

Let's take an example. You may know the map called cp_coldfront.

Here is a shot of it when it was in "alpha" stage:

THIS is what it looked like when it was in beta stage:
3dzqM.jpg

And just to be able to compare, this is the final map:
3dzn6.jpg

Alpha means "playable"
Beta means "layout is just about done, and the detailing is in progress"
Release candidate means "Everything is set, but i want to have it out here in case some minor flaws are discovered"
And then there's final which means final.

It hurts to see a map without lighting being called beta :O

Sorry, again I am completely new to this.

One day I thought, "Hey, I'm going to make a map for TF2". That was a week ago. So I'm pretty damn new to this : P

Well I don't like using the dev textures as a place holder. I just don't, so as I had the textures in place I thought it would be worth calling it a beta.

It's my first map anyway, so don't expect the lighting to be amazing when it's implemented : P

Thanks for the feedback anyway ^_^

It does have a long way to go. It brings back memories of when I first started using Hammer 6 years ago. You will find that with time your skills will improve. I reccomend watching as much tutorials and reading as much as you can.

GOOD LUCK!!! :D
