Yay for capitalism, it's more important that McDonald's can tap the market of a nation with billions of people than the fact the China has concentration camps, is funding Sudanese genocidal groups, and there's a slew of other human rights issues that no one is willing to recognise in the name of profits.

In short, I didn't watch it and don't plan to.

There may be a lot that's wrong with this year's olympics, but I choose to let others discuss that. I'd rather just enjoy the show, really.

The ceremony was pretty sweet, even though I just caught the part where they marched around on a globe. Which was awesome.

I'm watching the games a bit on and off here. I couldn't sit down for a day and watch the Olympic Games, but so far I've watched...some rowing.

Lets keep this thread strictly non political, discussion about actual olympic events..

Having said that the opening ceremony was pretty good the people running around the globe was impresive. I was kinda supprised when I heard a scottish bagpipe band playing when the athletes started walking in...

There was also some Mexican mariachi music.

It was odd how much of a show the opening was. I hadn't intended to watch any of it, except for for lighting of the torch. As far as the games themselves, I'll keep track of how many medals the US wins, but thats pretty much it. Oh, and maybe the "Redeem Team" can actually do something this year.
