Hey, folks. The next time you launch TF2, Steam is going to perform a one-time conversion process to upgrade to SteamPipe, a new content delivery system that improves the way content is downloaded, updated and stored. (If you've already upgraded, don't worry, it's done.)

The conversion process will only happen once, and then things are gonna get a lot better. But be patient: The conversion probably will take some time. Even on a machine with a fast hard drive, it could take up to 20-30 minutes, during which time it might look like it's hung. But it's not. Don't interrupt it, just please be patient and let it think.

We're sorry to any of you who are getting subjected to a longer-than-expected conversion time. But ultimately, the benefits will be worth a little inconvenience. You'll get faster uninterrupted downloads, quicker boot times and map loads, and easier distribution, installation and management of mods. Read the FAQ for more info, and thanks again for your patience.

Q. What are the known issues?
-The SDK and content creation tools have several major problems. Please bear with us, we are going to get these fixed soon. We don't have any intention of abandoning our content creators!
that last sentence gave me a good ol' chuckle.

One of valve's level designers posted on another thread that they really were doing what they could to get the SDK working again, which together with the official FAQ statement makes me think that it won't take too long before we can map properly again.

Lovely to see that we haven't been forgotten after all, and that they are still keeping an eye on what we're up to ^^

If they're still keeping an eye on us then why hasn't Nippletwister gone official yet?

My self-imposed exile to the caves of Latveria aka offline mode yet proves fruitful! While the people of TF2 suffer through the storm of changes, I map on in my quiet dark hideout, undisturbed by distractions such as automatic updates and playing with people.

...now if only the bloody game wouldn't be VAC kicking me from my own listenserver unless I unplug my internet altogether...
