After opening the SDK, I click on Hammer Editor and I get this message:

ibb4W8VLRHpwLJ.PNG

I have validated the TF2 cache twice already.

Have you validated Hammer's cache?

The SDK cache? Yeah. Currently validating it a second time.

I also restarted my computer.

I get that ALL. THE. FREAKING. TIME. Check TF2's cache. It should be okay then.

And you need to wait until its complete, not 100% (yes, that does not make much sense), otherwise you won't be able to do it.

Yeah, the validation always stops at 100% for a while, along with some other spots, namely, 0% and 1%.

I'm often having the same problem recently ... (validating tf2 cache always solved the issue for me).
In my case, it's not the same id (441 instead of 443).

As your problem seems to be related to "Team Fortress 2 Client Content" (id 443), perhaps try to delete (or rename) team fortress 2 client content.gcf so that steam can download it again. (if validating TF2 cache doesn't work)

I hope this kind of problem is happening because of the transition to the steampipe stuff, because I never had any problem before, and it's annoying to validate the cache so often ...

It works now, but I still have no idea what's causing the problem.
Usually, validating the TF2 cache helps, but I think it may have been the steampipe transition.

Wasn't the steampipe transition part of the wiki April fools prank?

This has been happening for like 6 months now.

Unfortunately valve doesn't care for us so it'll never be fixed, you've just got to deal with it.

Also, no need to let the damn thing go up to 100%. Over 10% and the thing works fine.

No, this is different. I validated the TF2 cache to 100% three times, but Hammer still didn't launch.

EDIT: actually 101% or whatever it is

1. Validate cache for TF2
2. Validate tool cache for Source SDK
3. Start up TF2, close it after that.
4. Start up SDK, start up hammer.

Should work.

Once the game moves to SteamPipe, this will probably go away.

But then, so will the SDK.

What I mean is, Source SDK as we know it will probably become a thing of the past, in one way or another. With the shift to VPK, they're probably going to replace it with a set of game-specific "Authoring Tools", unless they're planning to finally unveil that brand-new SDK they've been talking about since 2011. In either case, we may be stuck with no way to work on maps between the 23rd and whenever they get around to converting the last of their Source 2009 games.
