And they actually fixed a bug we experienced in the last gameday, the sideways shooting turrets.

They should disable Flash and JavaScript too. It's just the MOTD; it doesn't need to be any more fancy than an HTML email. You can't even open links inside it; they bring up the overlay browser.

There are legitimate SM plugins that use flash (2f2f's IGA for instance), if anything should be done, it should be the exclusion of servers that use pinion from quick play.

No, there is no legitimate need for Flash in MOTDs. And this is coming from me, a Flash fan.

I said use, not need.

Also yes, there are legitimate plugins that need flash in motds in order to function, this should be obvious since I literally just mentioned one.

What does it use it for? The fact that it's 2f2f makes me assume it's something stupid.

MOTDs shouldn't play music. And HTML does quotes just fine.

Aren't there Sourcemod plugins that can handle the audio-clip thing? Or do they all work the way you're describing?

There are three ways to play audio: Voice chat, normal audio system and 3rd party applications. Obviously the voice chat isn't suitable for anything but actual voice chat. The normal audio system requires that all sounds are preregistered and locally available. 3rd party applications can do anything. But you can't control them from the server.

Flash in MOTDs is technically a 3rd party application, even if it may seem to run inside the game. There are known glitches with letting Flash play audio in MOTDs. For example, the flash movie is never unloaded until another MOTD is shown.

I don't know how other music plugins work, nor does it really matter, the point I am making is that there are plugins that utilize flash in motds that should not be broken just because pinion is trash.

On the other hand, if Valve just specifically bans Pinion, another site will probably spring up in its place, and so on. Disabling the technology that makes their shit possible is a permanent solution.
