Hey I just had a silly idea to involve the maps wich come from tf2maps to the whole tf2 community.

Why not creating a poll each end of month to elect the best map tested on our gamedays during the whole month, this would be interesting if Valve could send a news about it too. I think it's always a good reward for the mapper, and if anyone seek a cool custom map to test, it's always more easier for him, and he will be sure that the map isn't that awfull when it comes to play it.

Thoughts ?

I think Doom is right, we don't make enough maps for this to work properly, even finding maps for the maps of the month we had on the header was hard enough and a fair few of them were old maps we just still all liked, the showcase does a little for giving maps that are of high quality a platform for server owners to see them and take a look at but i don't think both the showcase or the old monthly version of it did much.

I keep returning to it but i think a TF2 map workshop would help gives map a global voice though to other TF2 communities. It's looks fairly certain to be arriving once the steam pipe update is out so I think our efforts should be going into making the site take full advantage of that platform when it comes.

Who said that the MOTM had to be always a new one ? I don't see any problem by letting one map winning this for two months or maybe even more, if it win I think it deserve it no ? I mean it's just a cool award for a mapper and always a motivation to continue what you are doing, Valve isn't really intended in this one, but it's always a plus if they just could put a news about this on their blog.

Speaking as a bad mapper, I feel like everyone in this community basically knows who the good mappers are, and that adding yet another way for the veterans to pat each other on the back wouldn't change all that much.

Then again, you guys sure as hell aren't getting anything close to the recognition you're due from Valve or the non-mapping TF2 community, so you probably deserve some more of that sweet circular back-patting action.
