Fixed that up for you.
For a small 1v1, 2v2 game mode (for which there are servers that do this. Utiliduo for example) this would/could work. Anything larger it would be quite a mess.
For your questions:
- For spawn protection, you could (in theory) use invisible doors that open as you get near them.
- Forced Classes would need to be server side, and I don't think point_servercommands will work.
- No fall damage, maybe server side?
So, a lot of server side stuff.
I completely agree, and I am aiming for this right now. I have a friend who's setting up a server for 2v2's. He said that he'd write the nessisary plugins for me as well, but at a price once I'm ready to start buying several 2v2 servers.
If everything turns out to be as I
envision it, and this map quickly gets popular based on YouTube views, and server player spots (4?), I'll start buying more servers.
When developing this map, I fully knew which group of people would shun me for this, and which would praise me. More specifically, there are different cliches in Team Fortress.
1. Those who value TF2 for it's core elements and make maps for them.
2. The derpy players who live in Minecraft trade servers, and those random Mario Kart maps.
3. The Competitive players who live in lobbies.
4. The casual players who play for casual fun.
Serious Players
With this map's development, I'm attempting to reach out to everyone. I figure most of you will shun me for this. With stereotyping, most of you on this forum fit into number 1 that I listed. That said though, I figure if you're all smart enough to develop maps, then you might be old enough to have played Quake 3 in the past. It's a generational, but I make maps, and played Quake 3. Perhaps you have too.
Derpy Players
The derpy side of the TF2 community might like this as well as it's extravagant in nature. It's outside the norm, and it's similar to what a lot of derpy tf2 players like. ie, Minecraft trade maps, Mario Kart servers, etc...
Competitive Players
I feel competitive players can see the value in a fast-paced instagib map or server. I've played a lot of competitive play in TF2 lobbies and played a few UGC matches. That doesn't really equivalate to everyone who plays in TF2 lobbies liking this map; however, TF2 Lobbies are competitive in nature, and so is instagib. There is a possibility that some players will enjoy this map based the similar competitive nature these two bring to the table.
Casual Players
Furthermore, I feel casual players can enjoy this map. Minecraft is a casual sandbox game, I feel casual players who play TF2 have also played Minecraft and quite possibly like it.
