Hi, I'm wondering if any of you know of any good level design books. something that doesn't talk about noob stuff, but something advanced.

also, by good, I mean, it shouldn't have obvious things in it that I already probably know

thanks!

If you're looking at DVDs I'd not recomend the neosis 'advanced level design for source' that video really isnt that advanced at all and he even left the hint texture on all 6 sides of his hint brush....

I got the Phil Co book on Amazon last month. Level Design for Games: Creating compelling gaming experiences.

Some of the info is dated, but it's a very good read. Goes from the cradle to the grave on game design. I really enjoyed it.

This isn't a book, but it should be:

http://www.johnsto.co.uk/design

This is the blog archive of the creator of de_dust.

The techniques he describes are mostly generic, and could be applied anywhere.

He also has a story about Casbah for the original Team Fortress (which he also made).
