Yay, is that guy who makes bad maps and never got a map out of A1! I really suck at mapping, it is a real pain in the dick, but it is fun. Gorge styled map, based on an ethanol refinery. Layout kinda remembers Sawmill and Badlands and Offblast.
As an arena map, it is a fast paced map.
Finally A4!
Next I'm going to detail the map. If the layout works, obviously.

Thanks:
Gus for consultation (on next stages he is going to artpass the map).
ABS for his really helpful Ultimate Mapping Resource Pack.
And everyone who provided feedback on KotH_puzzle and Arena_waterload.

The control point has promise. That ledge over the point may have some play issues, though it does look fun to give it a try.. height advantages over points benefits a lot of classes.

Though I'm not gonna lie, I keep looking at it as a KOTH map.

You should post an overhead of the entire map too, get some feedback on that.

The last pic, that was the most possible overhead I could get.

Right, going to do that when A2 is released.
Which is probably in a few days.

Bad news. I had to format my computer, so I lost all files. Ironically, if wasn't for a mistake I wouldn't put the vmf on Waterload, so I still can work on that map. Still having some trouble trying to set CS : GO, Portal 2, L4D2 and TF2 to be fully downloaded.

Good news. I set Steam files on (D : ), meaning I didn't lost anything.
Damn emoticons.

EDIT: Bad news, I lost everything.

Question that might help me developing this map: can someone decompile a map from the .bsp?
If so, then, can someon decompile this map for me so I can get back to work?

Yes, if you use a decompiling tool it is absolutely possibly to decompile a map from a bsp. I use VMEX: http://www.bagthorpe.org/bob/cofrdrbob/vmex.html
Keep in mind it tends to delete areaportals but the rest remains intact.

EDIT: Since I didn't have anything else to do here's your decompiled map: https://dl-web.dropbox.com/get/Public/arena_ethanol_a1_d.vmf?w=50e4ee0f&dl=1
(I have no idea if the link works since I've never put VMFs in Dropbox and they need a manual download link to actually download the file or something, tell me if the link does not work etc etc)

Error 403. Damn.

Also, BSPSource is better to use. It's built off the VMEX framework but actually is updated now and then. It generally creates a better decompiled vmf--less broken things, no broken overlays, etc.

So your map is a box with spawns right next to each other. There's nothing to make the gameplay more interesting at all. The basic premise of the map is fine, but there's just... nothing to it. The height at mid is ridiculous and this has no replayability.

Shall I abandon this map?

If you plan to work on this, you should redo the entire layout.
Whole map is just one single area with big hill dividing two teams and because both teams spawn right next to each other, it quickly turns into demospam clusterfuck.

This might be dumb, but how can I watch the demos?

Put it in your tf/ folder. Open the game and type playdemo nameofdemo.

But... after like 2 or 3 rounds, which ended the same way, we started messing around.

Well, what's the name of the demo anyway? I tried to put it, but it didn't worked.

Did you unzip the file I posted? After that, it should autocomplete. Just start typing the first few letters and it comes up.

Ah. That's why it didn't worked. Thanks.
