Hey there.

I need a mapper to make a pro version of barnblitz, this would be for competitive play and whatnot.

First off, change from snow to grass, then make like a catwalk going TO last point, or make last point not such a massive collision.

I'm not sure if this allowed, but I AM willing to pay because I want this being done.

Add me at http://steamcommunity.com/id/waterbird9

We can talk more about it when you add me.

As an FYI to anyone reading this, I volunteered.

And we all remember what you were saying last time you redid a map for comp.

I know, but I would prefer it's done right rather than by an amateur, which is the alternative. TF2 is going to live on through comp play, not pub play, and I'd rather the maps they run aren't total pieces of shit.

Aren't we all amateur's though... Technically. (just sayin')

...but why remove the snow? The excuse for Coldfront was "performance" but I've never heard of performance problems in Barnblitz.

Apparently a lot of comp players are colourblind and the snow blends with blue really badly; at least that's how yyler explained it.

I thought it had more to do with the particle effects causing an fps hit, and the fog settings making long range visibility a little inconsistent. Whomever redid viaduct and coldfront/warmfront just changed the theme to have that change make sense.

But I dunno where I heard that. Might be imagining it.

So... now I've got this idea that all comp players are colourblind and use crappy computers, with sensitivity that requires you to move the mouse about a mile to do a 180.

None of the comp guys I know are colourblind, but almost every single one has a pc from 2004, so, yeah, there's some degree of truth to that stereotype.

It's kind of a combination of everything listed so far, I think, and beyond that a general consensus on aesthetics. When Warmfront was made I think the concern was more about fog, as any FPS cfg is gonna disable weather anyway. When I did Viaduct it just seemed proper to mimic that.

The sensitivity is mostly for hitscan weapons. You'll find that medics, demos and soldiers tend to have a much lower inches per 360.

I'm not colour blind, and I play on a laptop.... but I use a router I got from a Fisher Price liquidation sale and my game disconnects from the internet whenever I run mumble concurrently.

*the fisher price reference may be fictional.

EDIT: I've gotta stop reading old threads.
