You make a big square displacement, then you lower it substantially at the edge, then add water... But then what? How do you properly seal something like this? Not to mention add a border without making it really ugly?
sealing a beach would be quite easy, as it would pretty much just be a box around it.
As for the border, you'd want to make a 3D skybox, that creates an unreachable, and very wide horizon of water. The 3D skybox could also be used to make the bottom of the sea seem to extend beyond the actual bounds of the map.
Alright, the extending of the ocean is fine. But the borders of the map? I mean going to the beach in real life, you can look to the left and see the beach go on for 100's of meters. How is this possible to recreate?
