Is Warsong Gulch rather large for a TF2 ctf map?

Ok Warsong Gulch is a PvP map from World of Warcraft. The objective of that map is capture the flag three times.

I'm currently trying to replicate it as it is not possible to export the map; although there is a tool to export the models.

Based off of that image, I estimated the size of that field to be around 2464 Hammer units from one base's tunnel entrance to the other base's tunnel entrance with a varying width between 2848 and 2048 Hammer units.

Keep in mind that is just the area between the two bases. I still haven't pinned down the size of the "lot" needed by the bases themselves.

It's incredibly huge. A better idea would be to take key elements and repurpose them for TF2 in a new map built from scratch. Porting this directly wouldn't even make a useable trade map.

The thing is that it is impossible for me to port as there is no known tool that can export this map from the World of Warcraft files.

Besides granary is already much larger than what I think the final product would be. Although, granary is a cp map not a ctf map.

It doesn't really have to do directly with any length of units. It has to do with gameplay spaces and optimization. It doesn't really matter if Granary is (for example) ten thousand units long or not, because it's cut into separate areas that server specific functions while also working to cut down on what parts of the map are rendered.

Dang I really wanted to bring Warsong Gulch in more or less all its glory to TF2.

Then again this thing is more of a case of "should I" than "can I".

There's nothing stopping you from making a decent TF2 map with the same theme though.

Apart from the more-than-likely lack of themed resources.

Some things about WSG's layout actually lend themselves to TF2 gameplay rather nicely. The castles would make pretty decent forts with a few modifications, but the long tunnel wouldn't work (too spammy, I'd replace it with another room instead). The middle is also far too large and open, and should be redone entirely. Personally, I think it would be possible to make a TF2 map inspired by Warsong Gulch, but it definitely needs major renovation to work.

Although it's been done before. Ages ago, MrMof did a port of the Circle of Blood arena map.
