I still have yet to get on a MvM server due to them always being full.

Tried out the maps several times on a listen server. By yourself, it's very hard to stop the first wave. The only non-robot bots that work on MvM seem to be spy bots (the rest just sit in spawn), so I've been spawning a couple of spies just to act as fodder.

Engineers, demomen and pyros seem to be the win classes in this mode. But I have yet to be able to do enough damage to stop the tanks or the giant robots by myself.

So I guess in short, just screwing around with the mode for now, and hoping I can try it with a real team at some point.

My personal feelings on class: An engineer, heavy, and medic are mandatory. Demoman, pyro, and spy are useful, although a poor spy wont get far. Soldier, sniper and scout are about as useful as a second heavy/demoman/pyro. Two engineers/spies will screw you over more than none.

Megascouts are douches. If you see one is coming, buy the "Recall" canister. Some kind of critboost is almost mandatory, be it buff banner, jarate, kritzkrieg or canister. Without one of them, you kinda cant take down megaheavies before the next group arrives. And you need to.

I had a good 3 hour run with my friends in a private listen server.

Was fun.

I tried doing this with 2 other friends, but whoever hosted would DC from the coordinator and destroy the party as soon as someone else joined.

Tried:
Private game > game coordinator DC's
Public lobby > hour+ waiting times
Mann up > 20 minute waiting times + crashes.

Can't even get into the game to rate it. 0/10 /cough

Try using the old boring server browser and looking for servers with 5 or less players on it.

I've been running a private listen server whenever I get 4-5 more people to play.

LAst night we figured out how to get the Mann Up missions (though, we would NOT be able to get items, obviously). They are quite fun.


The mode is still buggy, and I feel like there are some minor balance issues that could be addressed. Besides that I really enjoy it.

There are points where bots won't fall down when they should. They get stuck behind buildings on their way into the field, and we can't kill them because they are still invincable. And the big one is that you will fail a round, but the round doesn't end. It will still continue, the hurt trigger is still there and allwe have to do is sit in spawn, let the bots walk themselves onto the kill trigger, kill themselves and then at the end destroy the tanks however slowly we want.

And yes, the 2nd one is true but rare. The explosion must trigger just before the round is declared lost or something.

Here's a clipping issue on coaltown. it takes a crouch jump or two. Its on the left of the robot spawn above that nest building.

This is caused by the Server Map Clock reaching zero. To prevent this from happening, set the game time to 2 hours at least.

I dont think i like the tanks. They dont encourage much more interesting gameplay than "heavy on the tank, everyone else on the tank or cover fire.

by themselves they arent very fun. but when you have a tank rolling into final area with a soldier pack and a giant pocketed heavy or two, gameplay gets more interesting that in should :p

Never happened to me, or anyone else I've heard of

Trying verifying your tf2 files or changing some configs

The worst that happens for me is that a lot of the giant robots get stuck while dropping down from the cliff and they just jitter in mid-air, invincible, for about twenty seconds.

The biggest problem with this new mode (apart from the 20+ minute wait) is that there's always someone on the server that "knows" what to do and will dictate to everyone what class to pick and what upgrades to get.

It's fine if you're not pushy with it, but like earlier someone said "No Sniper! We need another heavy/medic or kick", I calmly said "nope" and they vote-kicked me, they got their wish anywho and someone else joined who played medic - they couldn't get past the first wave. (My friend was in the game.)
