The mvm maps are crashing my hammer when I open them. Anyone else gettin' this, or anyone know of a fix that seems to work?

Ammokits crash hammer now, all valve maps have ammokits in them, so all valve maps crash.

Quick stupid noob question. How the hell do you open a decompiled map?

I use Hammer. It's a part of the source sdk.

You have to open the map in Notepad and imagine what it would look like, more or less.

I had to reinstall, so I can't actually see where I put the map.
Shit.

Default save location is:

\Steam\steamapps\xzzy\sourcesdk_content\tf\mapsrc\

With the xzzy replaced with your username, obviously.

If you didn't save that directory prior to a reinstall, yeah, you're boned. If all you did is reinstall Steam you might be okay.. Steam won't delete files in that area, only create ones that don't exist.

Gravelpit crashes on open, no problem with my own map. Works if I resave without 'invalid solids' but has no entities. Anyone got a working version?

My apologies for the very very long absence. I have been busy with a lot of other tasks and I honestly completely forgot to update this. I have taken the time to decompile all the maps against as of today and will be looking to provide new links within the next day. There are quite a bit more maps, so I am going to have to think of a new way to display them all since I cannot add another column into the group. I will add one more post after this to let everyone know when it is updated! Thanks again for your patience.

Hey, thanks. I was actually going to do this sometime soon, but I'd rather you do it.

Also, the ability to download old VMFs actually helped me a couple times (though I don't remember why).

If you need any map decompiled for whatever reason I'd recommend bspsrc.

I've used it to decompile mvm_bigrock for you - http://dl.dropbox.com/u/84556731/mvm_bigrock_d.zip
Not sure how well it decompiled compared to the other maps listed here but I've used it alright so that's that.

Thanks. I tried vmex and didn't remember that one since i changed pc recently. I just wanted to see if there is a spy riding the minecart in bigrock and indeed there is. It's one of the 12 cases.

All Maps have been officially updated as of May 25th 2013. My humble apologies on taking over 6 months to actually update this thread. I appreciate all the work people did here to help their fellow mappers out by getting them the decompiled version of the map/ If you download a map and it does not open for you, please send me a PM letting me know and I will get it fixed as soon as I can for you. Thanks again for thanking!
