That's official Gamescon stuff listing Valve as showing Half Life 3.

Rev your speculation engines, inject your NOx, stare down the other guy. GO

The most accurate whilst being most outlandish is the winner (ie saying "Gordon will be the player character" won't win)

Your prize: The smug satisfaction of having played HL3 to find out.

I will begin:
HL2 length story exposition at the start, they've got a big emotional moment after ep2 and if they don't give that enough service there will be outrage. The only way I can see them skipping such a large chunk of non-action would be to have a skip in gordon's vision. We know that the Gman still isn't in control so that won't happen (he wasn't in control after the vorts healed alyx was he? Just watching right?)

Well if the Gman was out of control, then how come the oracle came to kill Eli after Gman gave him the message through Alyx to "prepare for dire consequences"? I think that if anything he's back in control, at this point. Anything could happen at the start of the next game.

It's a prequel. You follow Gordon Freeman and have to control his limbs with a magical Gravity Gun to ensure he can gesture his way through MIT despite being mute.

I predict that this is fake. Anyone with spreadsheet software could make that. You haven't even given us a source, just a .jpg and told us it's legit.

It's legit, just search though any of the gaming websites. Gamescom have said it was a mistake though.

But, this thread isn't about the announcement. Just HL3 speculation.

It's not HL3, it's just the STEAM guys, apparently the HL3 listing was a mistake.

http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/14/half-life-3-pops-up-on-gamescom-product-listing/

"Gamescom organizers characterized the listings for both Half-Life 3 and Dragon Age 3 as "a mistake".".

"Valve's VP of marketing Doug Lombardi told Lambda Generation in July, "We will have the Steam team there to meet with developers and publishers. No game showing planned".".

But thats July.

I've said ti before. I trust Valve and I don't trust valve. I trust they will release things when they mean to, and make good games. I don't trust anything they say about release dates, or showings.

the....oracle? wtf

Hmm, I guess I meant the Combine Advisors. Don't know where I got the idea in my head they were called oracles...

EDIT: Also, for those who missed it:

http://lambdageneration.com/posts/half-life-3-confirmed-to-be-revealed-at-gamescom-2012/

Their site traffic is dangerously high right now, however, so I'll just paste here:
LambdaGeneration.com said:
[UPDATE: I have made a second call to Gamescom. I was informed that Valve had asked that HL3 be placed on that list, but apparently, "just a few minutes ago", Valve requested that HL3 be removed from that list.

Meanwhile, Eurogamer reports that they were notified that HL3 and Dragon Age 3 appearing on the listing was "a mistake".

The situation is murky, but it is still developing; don't get your hopes up just yet.]

This obviously means that Valve is trolling/teasing/building marketing hype as usual. Whether HL3 is really coming this time remains to be seen, but this is the first time it's ever been teased as being shown, and let alone in such a direct manner. I remain hopeful.

The quote is from July, Gamescon confirming it as a mistake is current up to date information released yesterday.

As I said in chat, I highly suspect HL3 will contain, or come bundled with some multiplayer (probably coop) element. They've done multiplayer in the HL universe, they have said they want to move away from solitary gaming experiences and with yet another coop game under their belt (tf2) I suspect they'll keep rolling with coop even if the main Gordon Freeman story arc ends in the single player mode we know and love.

If they do co-op, I predict Adrian Shepard returning to be the other character. No sense pairing up a mute player character with a non-mute one. Barney's been MIA for a whole game now, and Alyx is probably too shaken up over the ending of the last game to carry on.

Check the icons. Madcatz actually took down this video but this guy re-uploaded it. I think it's happening guys.

EDIT: I was looking at that Gamescon list and I was wondering how many dance games does Ubisoft make? I know Just Dance is a cash cow for them but you have to wonder if they might be oversaturating the market.

re: that video, that's some damn clever advertising on their part, put a reference to HL3 in and suddenly EVERY valve fan will watch your video.
That isn't anything but fucking genius marketing (also a really nice keyboard, whoa)
