Hello, my name is MANcraftINBLACK.

I started mapping about 3 month ago and I am pretty familiar with Hammer Editor. But I have a problem: I am currently working on a CTF map (I think its the gamemode for beginners) and I'd like to change the winning captures to 10.
I used google to search for solutions but I didn't find anything.
Then I found this page - TF2maps. I hope to find a solution here. My internet is really laggy today and I cant wait to find a solution so I thought "better make a post" instead of searching with the forum search.

Thanks for replies or links to pages.

The number of caps is determined by the server, not the map, but if you really want you could try using a point_servercommand that sets the console command "tf_flag_caps_per_round" to 10.

Dude, no, beginners gamemode is KOTH. CTF has lots of problems. 2Fort, Sawmill, Well, Double Cross, all of them have problems. Double Cross have a sightline big as hell. 2Fort is Sentry-Camping Land. Sawmill has three ways to the Intel, but has world most hated killing part. And Well has a really shitty base entrance. The best one is Turbine, and it is really close to Gravel Pit and Doomsday in terms of detailing level. Unless it's Steve's Turbine. KOTH is much easier to balance.

CTF is a simple gametype, so it's advised new people start with it so they can understand Hammer and Source. Same for KOTH and Arena.

Just be advised that probably no one wants to play a 10 cap CTF map.

Everything true.
has world most hated killing part? I dont understand.

But my map is small and simple, a warehouse with 2 floors.
It's very small compared to other maps, so 10 caps are a good value.

But how can I fill empty spaces?? That is what my second question is about mapping.

World most hated killing part. AKA Saws. Also add cover. Junctions uses props as covers and still does not break the atmosphere. A warehouse could use boxes, or maybe something related to storage as cover.

A warning: Gamedays don't accept maps that use point_servercommand to alter variables. That will make it harder to test your map.

Thanks everyone! ;)

"Gamedays" ???

A Gameday is when people get few maps in the lastest version and test then on a server. After then, people feedback in our feedback page. The creator reads the post, fixes the issues, such as adding cover, flank routes, pickups... So people can sign to a gameday, and take from alpha 1 to alpha 2 making tweaks.

ok i understand
and point_servercommand maps are not accepted?

ok, thanks for the warning

Yeah, mostly due to them usually breaking a server's default setting, and some of the changes you make might be carried over onto another map, causing inaccurate testing.

Also happens with fullbright maps, lighting is disabled on the next map played, so don't forget to add lighting too!
