Hello,

I searched on youtube and tf2 mapping websites but I can't find how to make my own glass texture. I can me other textures, but not this one.

Could anyone help me?

The glass texture I am using changes color when I shoot and to solve the problem I wan to create my own.

I want a simple texture, grey glass(transparent) and black edges(not transparent).

Not sure it this helps

Go you you local art supply store and:
- get yourself a coloured gel - one that you like
- shoot a picture of it against a white back ground
- import into photoshop make it transluscent
- import into your texture porgarm
- import in into hammer

and test it out

I don't think you really need to take a photo of gel or anything. Just use the Clouds filter in Photoshop if you have it, or google any number of "photoshop glass" tutorials.

You need to have an alpha channel in the vtf file you create. Alpha will be greyscale. Black should be fully transparent, while white is fully opaque. You would have your frame in white (non-trans) and the window glass part in some very dark grey, but not black. If you're using the Photoshop vtf plugin, bear in mind that it doesn't correctly save an alpha channel from an image with multiple layers. You'll have to open up the vtf again and paste in the alpha sometimes.

Make sure your vmt uses $translucent 1 (you can not use $alphatest as that's all or nothing).

Kill_the_bug said it! lol

You mean this tutorial for making TF2 from RL photos? I don't think this is a really good way of doing it. I've tried to use this method before and honestly it looks about a bazillion times better doing it by hand with a square rough-edged brush.

I don't understand how should I do it...

I understand the code I have to make in note pad but not the rest...
I tried to make the texture in paint, convert the image file using VTFEdit and than do the code... but it doesn't work.

I wonder if he means he wants tinted glass that works like real tinted glass, similar to the multiply setting in Photoshop. Can that be done in Source? I thought I've seen glass that works that way in some game before.
