If anyone plays, contact me. It would be great to play with tf2m.

I got ARMA II and whatever else, I could have Day Z. I have not actually figured out how to get Day Z and therefore haven't.

I played it for a few weeks. I understand it's an alpha, but a good portion of my experience was rather frustrating.

There were several times I'd log in, and before I could even connect to the server, someone (whether or a zombie or person) had killed me.

There's a lot of bad glitches that cause zombies to walk through walls. On the worst occasions, I'd enter a hallway where, for some reason, the hallway was not wide enough to do a 180, so I'd have to die because I couldn't aim at the zombie behind.

The blood system can be a real pain in the ass. Realism is cool. Having your character fall on the floor every 7 seconds and the screen go blurry every 2 seconds is unplayable. Anything under a certain threshold of blood is a death sentence. And considering I played with a friend of mine, every death meant another 30-40 minutes of trying to meet up again.

I'm interested to see where it goes, but I think I'm going to wait until it gets moved to ARMA 3. It's certainly a cool concept.

For anyone on the fence, Combined Operations is $18 on Steam today. You need both Aram2 and Operation Arrowhead to run DayZ (which combined operations provides).

I need to get it installed, which won't happen this weekend. I'll talk to you when I have it running.

Download, install, launch.

TF2M Day Z would be excellent. I vote we roam the countryside holding up groups of unarmed travelers and forcing cans of beans upon them before riding our motorcycles off into the distance, shouting profanities and firing assault rifles into the air.

After watching several gameplay videos what is there to do other than goad bandits or get bored and become one?

It seems like a pointless time sync, but i guess fun is subjective so... I'm just wondering if there's something i'm missing. Or is it just the fact that it's essentially like minecraft alpha... not much to it and i should take it as that.

The concept is decent but the execution so far is poor. I think it's just a lot of hype for what's a barely working prototype at this point.

After playing it most of this weekend, that's pretty much all it is. It's turned into deathmatch where you have to spend two hours crawling around on your stomach before you can join the fight.

And this is what everyone is calling "most interesting game" of 2012.

I went into it expecting a survival game, and got a buggy mess with rampant cheating and no teamwork.

Exactly. Most of the vids i've seen are of some scrub trying to get into a city for gear and being sniped by bandits holding out in a building where all the good loot drops.

The core gameplay mechanics are essentially gank or be ganked... it's a grief fest. People blocking buildings with barbed wire to phsycally cap loot. People camping spawn areas so that nobody can really join the game properly. Or bandits owning the cities so scrubs can't do anything (completely overlooking the fact it's a zombie survival game, OK this is a legitimate tactic but it's like the zombies don't even matter at this point). It's like, play for an afternoon, get bored then grief. The game seriously needs more to it.

Picked this up on the steam sale, and really looking forward to my next 2 off days.

Also I hear the game is night and day difference in fun with a friend or two.

so far my experience in this has been creep around slowly for ages, find maybe one useless item if I'm lucky, trigger some zombie 500 meters away and immediately get knocked out with no chance to defend myself, die, repeat.

I can't seriously recommend this to anyone. Maybe later in development, or after a bit more time playing it, my disposition will change, we'll see.

Me DJive, Rexy, Dark, and two of my friends all played for hours tonight. It was really fun. The fun increases exponentially the more people you add.

^ This. Solo the game gives a different feeling, In a group or with a friend or two the gameplay plays a lot and is pretty fun, even if nothing really gets accomplished.
