So i bought Fallout: New Vegas as well, and The Walking Dead.

The Walking Dead is pretty good: considering Telltale's last two franchises were the mediocre BtotheF and the poor Jurassic Park, it's much better than it has any right to be. Only the first two episodes are out right now, but i'm really enjoying it. It's kinda like the conversation/morality/plot-ish bits of Mass Effect, mostly, and generally fairly interesting in terms of choices. If you liked those bits of Mass Effect, it's definitely worth a look, as it does them very well and almost entirely focuses on them. It's very open about the effects of your choices in dialogue, such as "Herschel knows that you have lied." or "Danny has made a note of that"- or, most chillingly, "Clementine"-the kid you end up looking after- "will remember that." Makes for a lot of interesting second-guessing and careful consideration that often felt uneccessary in ME, where sometimes all but the largest causes and events felt seperate from each other. You don't just choose which squad-mate lives and dies, you also teach a child the word "shit" or "manure", and they remember that, and it comes up.

Plot is a bit dumb sometimes- i second-guessed literally everything in the second episode- and combat is QTEs (as QTE's go, not altogether bad ones, usually just line up a crosshair or hammer "q"), and the puzzles tend towards really easy, but neither plot, puzzles, or combat is the point of this game. It's all about the characters.

Bearing in mind that theres 5-6 hours content available now at MAX (barring replays, and i plan at least one replay), the £12 sale price is decent. I'd certainly pay that for the full version. I'd probably pay the full £20 for the full version. If you're on the fence: get it. If not: consider it, or make a note of it. This is definitely, definitely worth the ridiculously low price it will someday drop to.

Oh, and i bought the Prince of Persia reboot, because FUCK YOU VIDEOGAME MOM i buy what i want.

My haul so far:

  • Sam and Max complete pack - Stored in my inventory because I wanted to buy it but I just wasn't necessarily sure I wanted to own it. The two games I've played from the series so far were a bit underwhelming as point-and-click-'em-ups go.

  • Fallout New Vegas Ultimate Edition - After finally getting, playing, and loving Fallout 3, I was hoping this would go on sale for $15. It did not. It went on sale for $10. Many tanks, Bethesda!

  • Trine and Trine 2 - At the urging of TotalBiscuit and my cousin, respectively. Pity the former doesn't have online co-op, but maybe I can pick up a cheap controller or two next time I'm at The Exchange and convince my parents to give the local a go.

So far I've only bought Fallout 3 GOTY edition. I might get Driver: San Francisco when/if it goes on sale.
