Map Making "Documentary"

I'm just judging the interest in this.

After I finish Corrode, I was thinking about making my next map but meticulously detailing every single step of the way. It'd be a combination of Blog and Videos. I'd try to make it as professional looking as possible. I'd start out explaining the planning and move into the building and testing.

Really, though, I don't want to do it unless I know people would like to read and watch. I'd really like to do it, but it's no fun unless people are involved and interacting.

So, what do you guys think? Would you be interested in something like this?

It'd be rather cool. There's a lot of hidden workings into how maps get made that most players of the game don't see (with the exception of the TF2 blog post on how they made Gorge, but even then the first and second steps jump from sketching to full-on detail), and I think it would give people a nice insight into how much hard work goes into getting a map to it's final stages.

Maybe they'll stop whining about 'how getting a Mapper's Medallion should be easy' :p

People whine about that? :|

And yeah, that post on making Gorge was really lacking in information.

I also forgot to mention, I'd be using this as a teaching tool as well. As I'd explain what I'm doing along the way. What tools I'm using and why. Ect. Ect.

I've seen it before on some sites, especially the Official Wiki.

Would the documentary consist of one person explaining, or multiple people and how they prefer to map? It'd be interesting also to showcase the different methods people go through compared to others.

I was thinking about including other people, but mostly as sort of interviews on the blog I'd be making. I, unfortunately, can't fly to other people's houses and hawk over them with a camera, so I'd have to do it through text.

I am willing to be interviewed/provide insight into early versions of finished maps (such as manor and hoodoo)

I will sponsor your Kickstarter for this project.

Unless you actually make a Kickstarter. Then my wallet will scream like a little coinpurse and run away like it always does when I ask it to commit to something.

If this is a blog I can write guest posts for, I'll help. I may have been less than enthused about videos last night, but text I can get behind.

Hah, yeah right. If I could get people to pay me to make a map and interview people, that'd be cool, but I doubt it.

And I'll take you up on that offer yyler.
