A huge, stylized column of fire to be used for payload bombs and any other kind of triggered explosion.

Video demonstration

Alrighty then, this is my first upload for this site. I'm still trying to get the whole interface down, so give me a break.

It's customary to make another post with a joke in it, like "Pillar of thanks post" in this case so that like 30 people can thank you for this.

By the way, this is awesome. Tiny Boy explosion anyone?

I think, that the radius of the flames is a bit too big, for the small hole where the PL drops in.
But I have to see it ingame.

I also wish the people with a bad PC good luck. :p

You could always make a different sized hole. Also, his particle systems are really well optimized. It's unbelievable.

This particle system is really nice. I can't wait to see more from you.

I shall use it next time I make a map with an explosion.

I don't mean to sound like a dummy but I have no idea how to use this and there's no instructions in the download. I did a bit of searching around the VDC but didn't come up with any instructions. Could some kind soul give a quick, idiot's guide to using this please?

Put the .pcf in your tf/particles folder.

You then create a info_particle_system with "particle system name" set to pillar_of_flame (it may be something else, but you can check that by launching tf2 with -tools, opening the particle file and seeing what the system name you want is in the list)

You then need to create a manifest file for your map. It's a simple text file, .txt, named cp_yourmap_a1_particles

and inside you want;

particles_manifest
{
"file" "particles/pillar_of_flame.pcf"
}

put it in your tf/maps folder, and then when you trigger it using i/o's (Start is the output) it should work.

I probably left something out...forgive me, it's late. Someone help me out if there's a mistake.

We're thinking of using this in Stoneyridge, is that cool to do?

It's technically already in the map and looks pretty badass, but since we're getting close to the final release I figured it would be a good idea to ask before including someone else's work.
