Hello there everyone.

I kind of left tf2 last summer for unknown reasons. It just happened. Mostly thanks to my PC being shit. Well. I'm back. :p

I hope there are some of you who still remember me. I was rather active on the forums, but I never got to actually finishing any maps. Well. Yes, I hope most of the people I knew are still here, but to those who are new, I want to say: HEEEEEEEEEEELLLLOOO! :p

I've missed so many things. If you're not too lazy, give me a small list of the biggest things that happened to tf2/tf2 mapping troughout the last year.
Thanks. :)

I actually remember that at one point someone asked me if I'm dead. It was a while ago though. :D

Welcome.. back. There was a site rollback like a few weeks ago to May. There was a Payload contest, and that's all I know.

I guess I'm the only one who's not too lazy.

We had two payload contests; one involved building around a pre-made track and turned out to be kind of a disaster, and the other involved cheap gimmicks but produced some good maps anyway. Right now we're in the middle of a 72-hour contest and a KOTH contest sponsored by some guy I've never heard of. Word on the street is he likes maps where the point is on some kind of spire. Heyo released a pack of jungle-themed textures and props that he's using in his latest map, PL Borneo (which was not made for either of the aforementioned contests). We have a guy whose specialty is making particle effects, and he made Yyler a new black hole in less than a day.

As far as the game itself: Valve released a few new maps: Foundry (a pretty good 5CP map that people are calling "a good version of Fastlane"), Eyeaduct (Halloween event map based on Viaduct), and Doomsday (kind of gimmicky new gamemode involving one flag and a slow lift). There was another ARG that might not actually be over yet, and Source Filmmaker is now a closed beta, presumably heading for a public release in time for people to use it in the 2012 Saxxys. Meet the Pyro came out. There are a bunch more stupid unlocks for every class except the engineer who's only gotten, like, two. And you can't log into any server without running into at least one guy who has a My Little Pony avatar.

In other Valve news, there's a new Counter-Strike remake in closed beta, Dota 2 is in public beta, Black Mesa suddenly revealed itself to be still in development, some modder figured out how to do complex real-time lighting in the Source engine, Steam is on a new content delivery system that I know nothing about but is supposed to be a major improvement, and the next Half-Life is due to be released roughly three months after the heat death of the universe.
