Hey! :) I'm Mini Maracas, and I'm new to this site ^_^ I play a wide variety of games, such as CounterStrike:Source, Garrys mod, Minecraft, Halo, Fifa, TF2, and more! I'm a big fan of the valve games on my PC, as it's not the best (It's a cheap laptop), and valve games are fairly easy to run. Well, better than some others.

Anyway, I've been into mapping for about a month now, but for CounterStrike: Source. I'm going to start making a map for Team Fortress 2 today! Any tips on the best starting gametype for a map? I've been looking at some tutorials, and it looks quite hard ^_^
I'm not the best at mapping, but I'll show you guys my 1st TF2 map once I've done it :)

Glad to come here, this community seems nice :D

Welcome!

Hey I just met you
And this is crazy
But 1-***-***-****
So call me maybe :p

CSS maping is translated pretty well into TF2 mapping as long as you make sure you're scaling your maps properly!

Good Luck, Have Fun!!

Thanks guys :) yeah, I was thin-king to make a king of the hill map (bad pun :3), as it seams easiest in terms of all the funcs and outputs, etc :)
Thanks for the help, how would you recommend starting a map? I know drawing it up on paper is easier, but how do you think of the theme, routes and structure of the map? Does it all just come to you?

Thanks again :)

I'd suggest you to try to take a walk outside and think up of the theme and the layout of the map, then design it on paper.

Thanks! It's hard to fit it all together, and make a map which looks cartoony - like the TF2 style, make it balanced for the teams, work on the detail and all that stuff! Thanks a lot for your help! What do you suggest I look at mainly in the official maps? Layout? :)

Also, are all characters the same size? Is there not a hole scout can fit in which heavy can't? Just so I don't end up making a tunnel, for example, which a character can't fit in. Heavy does like his sandviches ;)
