On June 12th, 2012, a forum error (honestly, it was!) caused all ~20,000 threads on TF2Maps.net to be moved into a single subforum. This caused that subforum to be shut down and hidden. This also necessitated a forum rollback, which shut down the site for the rest of the day.

The site is back up and running now. It was our intention to have rolled back to May 28th, but due to a database corruption, we had to rollback to May 22nd, 2012. We apologize greatly for this inconvenience, and will work to help the members get back what was lost during the rollback.

Please read the following about what we will be able to do for you.

  • We will not be able to update your post count nor your thanks/thanked count.
  • We will be able to recover text from threads created during the last 22 days.
  • If you bought/received donator during the past 22 days, please PM drp on the forums with your paypal email address. He will get your VIP status back and give you an extra month for the inconvenience.

Please check back to this thread over the next few days for updates.

Again, we apologize greatly for this inconvenience. Any questions should be posted here, or you can pm Fr0z3n here on the forums. (If you pm me on steam, I might not see it!)

UPDATE! We also realized that 3 weeks worth of members were lost. So if you registered in that time, and can't log in now, you know why. We'll see if we can recover those.

UPDATE 2! The sandbox database is up. I, along with a couple other mods, will be pulling over some of the important bits of the past 3 weeks (aka, judge reviews). After that, I'll look into doing a "requests" forum, for getting certain memorable things back. Please understand that I will not be pulling all 300 posts you made in the past 3 weeks, just a couple of the important bits.

So what actually happened, technically? Table column get dropped/reset to all zeroes? I'm guessing it was more serious than that somehow, judging from how unfixable it was.

13,000 threads where moved in to one subforum.
Moving them back manually would have taken till the end of time.
Rolling back was the path of least resistance.

Sorry about the mess :c

I want to know what actually caused that to happen.

... I say it in the first sentence :/

And drp, it was about 19,384 threads to be exact.

Thank God for Back Ups!!!

And thanks for the hard work in getting the site back on line - any eta for the stuff from the last 22 days? I'm not in to much of a rush for the stuff.

No issues with posting now correct? Will it hamper you reload of the last 22 days? Would having people hold off from posting for a bit help you in your recovery?

a secondary database with the threads that were last will be set up, we'll be able to paste thread back over. I'll annouce when that is working and how that is working, it might just be for important threads, don't know yet.

You are free to post now as much as you like (from what I understand). Just keep popping back here to check for updates in the first post.

So in this alternate reality forum that we couldn't access, I entered the contest and won all three places?

No issues with posting. I do have a db dump of everything from before and will be setting up a dummy forum so we can copy and paste important stuff back.

Sorry about the inconvenience.

ps. I've gotten a few PMs about users with VIP, please keep them coming. I will be taking care of them after i get off from work in a couple of hours.

Thanks guys.
