I wouldn't be surprised if America ends up being one of the first to pick up on this, what with interstate gambling already being universally illegal and all.

Idk man, Valve probably has more money than the tobacco industry to blow on lobbying now.

It's hard to counter his arguments anymore. It used to be just a bunch of complaining, but lately TF2 has been stagnating like this, and Trotim is more or less right. I haven't even launched the game in a month and a half.

It didn't used to be a bunch of complaining, it is just as valid now, as it was back then. The trend has been pretty obvious for a while now, just exponentially more so in the last few months.

People are naturally collectors and want everything. People are naturally gamblers and know that eventually, they will win.

No they're not, don't make me lecture you on human nature.

I honestly don't see the comparison, since you can't really *lose* when you open a crate, you always get something.

Without risk, it's not really gambling.

but that's just how the world works.

If people rolled over and took that crap the human race wouldn't have evolved socially like it has over the past 4000+ years. You think America would be what it is now if people had just accepted "Well, having kings and queens is just the way the world works"?

Valve didn't get to be a major games company by merely seeking dollar signs, Half-Life 1 was an experiment in interactive story telling that wasn't even supposed to make it into the gaming charts, let alone win GOTY 7 years in a row. Being a good company is all about providing a superior service which is something that Valve has fairly consistantly been able to achieve. But things like this are major speed bumps. The moment you start neglecting your customers for dolla is the moment you fail; the only trouble is sometimes companies like EA corner a market and create a monopoly that make it difficult to choose alternatives.

You only have to look at events like EA being voted as the worst company ever to understand that people wont tolerate bullshit if they don't have to. And they don't have to.

Personally the only reason why i still play TF2 is because i love making maps for it and i love the guys here and if it wasn't for those two factors i'd have uninstalled it years ago.

They should be lobbying to get rid of bandwidth caps on Internet service, then.

...Oh wait, those only exist outside of the US, and the US is the only country where lobbying is still legal.
