I can't seem to get them to work.

manifest is named properly.
manifest is packed fine.
particles are packed fine.
console throws out "failed to precache "awe_swamp", unkown particle".

Kinda lost here...

When i had them working during the contest they weren't packed, they were in seperate folders zipped together but i'm not sure whether i can get them to install like that via 7zip and source.

Anyone with more experience able to give some pointers?

Also anyone who knows the name of the proper swamp explosion please tell me, since i havn't been able to see the explosion i'm unsure whether i have the right particle. It's not in the swamp zoo vmf and the wiki list is less than comprehensive.

If your manifest is right and correctly named they should show up for you locally without packing. If they don't, they either aren't being triggered right or you've got the wrong name. I'm on my phone, otherwise I'd look at my swamp manifest file, but swamp.tf2maps.net/instructions.php might have the answer

I've double checked mine and a couple other swamp files to be sure, i even poked in your hella alpha's with pakrat and gcfscape to take a look at the file structure of your custom finalé and it all looks identical to me.

I'll try one of the other swamp particles which are in the swamp zoo vmf to make sure it's not the setup that's borked. Maybe it is the name.

Looks like i found the problem. The name of the file (and the name referenced on the wiki) doesn't correspond with the name referenced in hammer/TF2.

The console still chucks out annoying errors but i guess the important thing is that it works. The only trouble is the explosion is frickin huge. About 2048 units in diameter. I'll have to get someone to reduce its scale if possible.

That's pretty simple actually--probably the easiest thing to do. I recommend you do it yourself just to get some idea of how things operate in the particle editor... if not and fubar doesn't do it, I will later.

I've already dabbled in the particle editor before, when i was trying to create (and failed) steam "smoke" stacks for my nuclear reactor concrete cooler towers before i removed them from cp_axle; and you're right, it's probably the easiest thing to do. In fact the only thing i could really figure out properly was how to re-size stuff and change particle birth and death speeds. Unfortunately.

I want to see it in my map first, as is, as i've only been testing it in a tester map, i'll be releasing a6 in the (Thursday) morning; and i'll find out how much it needs resizing then. I might ask one of you guys to lend me a hand if that's ok (for speeds sake as i'm on a timelimit for the contest as you know and havn't touched the particle editor in months).
