It's here

You showed interest, so here it is. - No previous pixel art experience required -

Here's how this works:

  • You may pick up to three tiles to complete each
  • If you pick multiple tiles ( which I urge you to do ) You should pick touching tiles ideally of the same colour. (This rule isn't enforced, but is recommended)
  • You must complete your tile using only the colours provided in the palette below.
  • Regardless of the number of tiles you choose, you must have at least one TF2 themed element. You can do as much as you want as long as you have at least one. (Not one in each, one total) The strength of the TF2 theming is up to you, if I am uncertain what your TF2 element is and you can't get an "oh yes, there it is" reaction from me using only one explanatory sentence, it's not strong enough. After that, you're free to do whatever you wish, UFOs, castles, fighting machines, whatever you want.
  • Once you have completed your three tiles you may request up to two more at a time to complete. These do not have to touch your first three but must touch themselves (teehee)
  • You absolutely must post your progress on your tiles any time that you work on them.

A word about tile edges:
You may spill out of your tiles a little bit. This will be handled on a first-come-first-serve basis. If no one has claimed the tiles next to yours you can spill over how you wish (within a few pixels). If the tiles next to yours have been claimed, communicate with the owner of those tiles and make sure you're in agreement about what is overlapping what.

It is also recommended that you keep your tile borders as neutral as possible so that the owner of the adjacent tiles doesn't have to work your odd ending into their tile. Again, communicate and use common sense.

If you claim an edge tile and want to overflow, go wild.

This is the base grid:

This is the palette:

That's 15 colours, 3 shades of grey, black and white, 20 colours in all. You can download the colour table for photoshop here (If you don't know what to do with this, don't worry, just use the image instead)

Here are three good pixel-art tutorials, I'm sure using google you can find more and plenty of pixel art references.

Here's the collab we're basing this off if you want to see how they've been done by pixel art communities before:

Most importantly, have fun learning something new!

Fubar that is sweeet!

I'm taking 82, 83, 86 for my first three. Game on!
