I entered a film into Worldfest (Houston, Tx)

The movie is about the last stages of death a person (in this case my mother) goes through when they go into Palliative Care. There is no dialogue in the movie except the voice (phone) recodings of my mother as the Pancreatic Cancer finishes her off. The movie is a brutal emotional downhill ride and is usually met with silence by the audience at the end of it. Unfortunately today, it is very hard for me to remember what my mom actually looked like before her cancer and I would implore anyone who has friends/relatives diagnosed with this disease to get pictures of their loved ones before it progresses because the person at the end of it will look nothing like the start of it.

I'm working with several amatuer film producers actually, doing graphics-promotional work for a local film festival organised by one of those producers even. I've seen several of the short films and feature length and i've always found the films with less dialogue always have a greater emotional impact. I'm guessing it's something to do with the higher levels of empathy enduced as the audience is forced to connect on a more fundamental level in order to understand the situation, rather than being spoon fed narrative and shallow explinations people are forced to reference their own experiences.
