Creation Kit is the toolset released by Bethesda, used to create mods for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Luckily for the aspiring modder, it is very well documented, with a wiki existing at http://creationkit.com that covers its use. In addition, there is an extensive index of tutorials created to assist in learning how to use Creation Kit. A beginner with no knowledge of the tools can start here.

I'll assume it can also make stuff for TF2, since this isn't the off topic forum?

Also, I'll wait a month or so before downloading. It's Bethesda, after all.

I already got a bit started on the tutorial Bethesda provides, and I'm glad that it's pretty in-depth when covering the basics of the editor. I worked a bit with the G.E.C.K. when it came out for Fallout 3 back in '08 and I'm pretty glad to see that everything is fundamentally the same, for better or for worse, I guess. Pretty easy to get used to everything once they cover it in the tutorials, so it's almost as easy as learning the Source SDK. My only problem is that the camera for the editor is really stubborn and takes a while to get used to.

Anyway, been navmeshing and following the tutorials.

However, seeing as I'm no modder or anything -- can't script and can't model for shit -- I'd like to see what all I can do with this. I've got a few ideas rolling around about some dungeons I might make and may even post them here if anyone is ever interested, maybe for feedback, or whatever. Hopefully others will post something here too...

TF2maps wont always be tf2maps, besides, we've had a Portal 2 and L4D2 section for months.

I'm looking forward to taking a shot at this tool. I've worked with a few other game engines besides source, though they have all been RTS based (Ground Control, Dawn of War II).

I've been meaning to try my hand at the SC2 editor even.

Okay, well I've actually started doing some stuff after finishing off Bethesda's tutorials, and it's going pretty well I guess, my only gripe is that the camera is really annoying.

Anyway, here's some progress:

Got this on to look a bit more close to what I imagine it to be, just a few touch-ups, etc...

Same room, different angle...

Here's one with effects and sky turned on, but no lighting work done yet.

Just thought I'd share a bit.

Don't bother, it's useless and slow and too complicated to do anything worthwhile in. I was in the WC3 mapping scene for years and the SC2 editor is a downgrade in most aspects :I

I'm glad there's a topic addressing the Creation Kit. I think it's really buggy and it kinda makes Hammer look user friendly. It's obviously very powerful but I think it needs a couple months of patching. On top of that the Skyrim mod community has been flooded with total garbage.

I think by the end of the year different modders will pool their resources to create bigger and better mods, hopefully expanding the replay value. I want something like the Stalker Complete series made by some Russian dudes (Dolgov Studio I guess). I think Wars in Skyrim and Warzones are close, but not quite there yet.
