TF2 causes internet to die

If you've been in chat recently, you've heard me complain about how my internet keeps dieing whenever I play TF2. I have determined the issue to be on my end, not the ISP because when I run other multiplayer games (ie, CSS), and do ping/speed tests, everything is where it should be.

I have tried:
Turning off my Anti-virus
Turning off my firewall
launching tf2 through a third party server browser (HLSW)
Adjusting my internet connection speed steam setting

The major culprit seems to be our server and a few random ones I joined. but ours is by far the worst. I tried Cafe, and there was an initial spike, but then it flattened out and become playable.

I've just about all that the internet has suggested, so now I'm stuck. Does anyone else know what might be going on?

I sort of have the same problem, but happens randomly when TF2 is open but not in a game, and when the server browser is opened in the game itself. I can connect to a server through Steam's server browser just fine but it's a pain in the ass when testing maps offline (not even sv_lan 1 works)

Had a similar problem some time ago, with the entire server browser though. When it tries to do a full refresh all the connections are too much for my router to handle and this causes nothing to get through anymore at all.

Probably not your issue but I'd guess it's a router issue if you have one?

This was discussed in chat yesterday. Whenever someone loses connection to Steam, it is because Gabe Newell ran over a wire with his wheeled office chair, and he has a huge mess of cables at his feet, one for each user. This happens whenever he is in his mother's basement. (His mother's basement is actually the basement she lives in in Gabe's house, not the other way around)

This happens to me whenever I'm joining a server. I guess it's the game's way of telling me to stay away from Memebase before I get kicked for being AFK.
