I still think we should have went with the hammer weapon, especially now that it could use the generic melee weapon swing animation, like the Saxxy.
But I'm just happy to be getting something finally!
Yeah I liked the all class hammer too

Yes, I have received complaints from people saying that people who entered an incomplete artpass "low quality" entry will be getting the medallion ... but that some people who have contributed a lot to the community, but didn't win any contests, or enter the artpass, won't.
Question: Does "notable and significant" include those who have had their maps made official, such as MangyCarface and Fishbus?
At the time it would have only been for the Engineer, so I can see why people wouldn't have wanted it.Yeah I liked the all class hammer too
Oh, i see. I guess that makes sense, even though the original deal was for artpass entries and nobody had any complaints about that when that deal was made. I believe there were only 2 or 3 shitty maps, the general quality was pretty high across the board.
I was one of those people the submitted something that wasn't 100% complete. If there is anyone complaining about it, they should remember that there wasn't anything promised before the contest was over. I submitted because I put it a lot of work and wasn't going to be able to finish what I had started, I was probably about 75% complete with the detailing, though.
The big thing was that I learned a TON from working on the project! That's all that matters.
This medallion makes me want to win this 7th major contest. I don't care the prizes, I care about this medallion :O I now have a dream, a dream to get this someday. Thank you fr0z3n and everyone else who made this happen.
Now I have some other misc Item soeday I will look forward to slapping on my chest :3
Yes, but i don't believe that's what Frozen is talking about, it certainly wasn't what i was thinking of when i said "shitty maps". There were 2 or 3 maps entered that were just the layout re-textured and the chances are they were only submitted for the sake of acquiring the unique item.
They've recieved 3k in real money and a sparkly community weapon. Do they really want/need a medallion as well?
I imagine this is something purposefully different to the community weapon for those who've tried to make the community a better place on numerous occasions through productive mapping activity even if they havn't had any direct dealings with Valve such as becoming a TF2 content contributor.
And no, I will not be giving it to all the people who have official maps. Why? The medal is a (our) community item, not a "I can map too, but aren't part of the community" item.
Most of the people who would be getting one are also getting on for other reasons, and they don't really need a medal for it when they get a community item + money + their name slapped on it.
If there comes a case where someone from this communtiy gets an official map, and doesn't have one for another reason, I will look into it on a case by case basis.
3K only? My TF2 must be glitched, because I swear on every custom map I play on there is always upwards of 50K supporters. Doesn't this translate into 50K stamps sold (= $50K)?
Valve purchase levels for $3k (up from 2.5 for some at the start of TF2). That is the contract written by Valve when you get the cheque and the sparkly community weapon of your choice. What happens afterwards in terms of donations from TF2 players is another thing altogether.
I already know about the initial 3K, but you can't ignore the other 47K :V
I'm not ignoring it, i just didn't mention it because we're discussing Valve "rewards". Donations have nothing to do with Valve other than the fact that it's their system in place that and there's a hat in it as an incentive for said donators.
