Hi there all,

I made a pretty big tutorial yesterday, for starters.
Now, I wrote this entire tutorial on GameBanana and it does not like to be copied to this website. :c (lots of screenshots, won't copy along...)

So, if there are any starters here, you should check out this page!

Good luck guys! :)
And Moderators, sorry again that I couldn't copy the entire tutorial onto this website. :blushing:

Protip 3: If you're, like me, mapping for TF2, be careful what textures to pick. This is because there are HL2 textures mixed in the texture browser too. Try some out, if you've played a lot of TF2, like me, you'll learn to recognize the TF2 textures and tell them apart from the HL2 textures.

You can put "tf" into the keywords menu at the bottom of the texture browser and it will filter out all the HL2/CSS/BLAH textures so that only TF2 ones show.

Also, you use ABS's pack, which has some things changed that are different than without the ABS pack... i didn't see you mention that you had the ABS pack, so you might want to do that.

@the ABS pack, it was mentioned all the way at the end, but I'll just mention it in the first line too.

''Things in this tutorial may look different from yours because I use the 'Ultimate Mapping Resource Pack' (AKA 'ABS pack') Download it here: http://forums.tf2maps.net/showthread.php?t=4674''

@texture browser: thanks for the tip. :) I put this in the tutorial:

'' 'Protip 3: If you're, like me, mapping for TF2, be careful what textures to pick. This is because there are HL2 textures mixed in the texture browser too. Type in 'tf' in keywords to filter out the TF2 textures! (Thanks to 'Fr0Z3n' from TF2Maps for this tip!)' ''

Just a note that filtering out non-TF2 textures also gets rid of dev textures, the pitted(?) metals used for the tops of stairs, the texture used for the fronts of stairs, and all the tool textures, among other things. So learning to just tell the difference is a good idea in the long run.
