So uh, this is the thread for my contest entry I guess. Allocation. I quite like that name. It's a shipping term:

Allocation
The process of assigning activities, costs or facilities e.g. space to a certain organisational units.

This, in my opinion, sums up RED and BLU nicely.

Proposed Dynamic Elements:
A bridge which caries payload to destination. Payload must simply reach a certain point in the track, and the bridge will activate.
A elevator which carries the payload down into the enemy base. (Much like that one area in Alien Swarm!) It must be stood on by the attacking team to push down. If not, it goes back up. Like Hightower, but in reverse.

Oh yeah, and it's desert themed. Shipping and storage.

Allocation - The Re-launch.

Okay, so back in early February my Desktop went kaput and I basically just stopped completely working on this map - And once I got it back, I thought that it wasn't worth putting in the time to finish it as the contest I was making it for was almost over anyway.

Recently, my friend asked me what happened to it, saying he liked the idea as well as the gameplay of a small test version I released.

As such I have decided to recommence work on the map - albeit possibly rethinking much of the design - I feel it was much too long.

Just thought I'd announce this here as it means I'm more likely to commit to it.

There's really not much to comment on yet, but I guess it looks fairly neat so far, albeit very small. The height advantage given by the bridge may also turn out a bit problematic.

One purely esthetical nitpick; You may want to change those pillars a little. As it looks, my first impression was 'Stolen from Viaduct'. Thinking that immediately breaks a player's immersion, and since the pillars are brushwork rather than models you should be able to rework them a bit pretty easily.

Inspired By =/= Stolen.

They're different.

For reference:

Viaduct.

As you can see, they're different. If anything, I stole them from my Artpass map, which also featured a similar bridge. I made those from custom brushwork, but indeed, I was very inspired by the Viaduct bridge. I guess I just like bridges.

I wasn't quite sure whether you'd stolen them or built something similar. When comparing images of the two, they're obviously different. Still, if I encountered your supports in a random community map while playing, I think I'd assume it was stolen.

I agree with you that the design is cool, but it may still need something to set the two apart. Some kind of supports? More distinctly different-colored concrete?
