And the other 50% think it's just a thing to use when you can't remember whether you're supposed to use a comma or a colon, amirite? ('Cause that's how everyone on the Internet uses it now.)

After the teacher explained it, the response was this:

"Oh you mean the thingy you use to make the little winky face on Facebook?"

An old classmate of mine heard this on a religion class: "The muslims started to count their years about 600 years after us". And then she says: "So, they're going to invent all the things we have invented but 600 years later?". She thought that they lived in another time.

40% of US citizens are young earth creationists.

Also, people in the Republican party actually get voted in, there.

Also, the whole "99%" thing generally has to do with the fact that it's being demanded that the taxes are being raised and the benefits are being cut for the vast majority of US citizens, due to a "crisis", yet apparently it's perfectly okay to do the reverse for billionaires.

Not sure if pro 99% statement or not. You do understand noones really asking to raise taxes for billionaires for more than a fraction of 1%. But primarily address loopholes in existing corporate tax laws that currently allow businesses commit what is essentially fruad simply because of the way certain tax laws are worded, making them appear to imply that it's acceptable to take out a ton of money from a business, write it off as something like a gift to avoid tax. Half the reason we have this "crisis" is because businesses refuse to recycle wealth into their respective nations. There are no double standards here as you would appear to suggest.

Start a church. You can make as much money as you want from donations and tithes, and you don't have to give any of it to the poor or pay tax for it.

You don't have to pay SOME state/gov't taxes... but thats compensated by other taxes that you pay to the Denomination you're in... So you still pay taxes.

(Both my parents are Presbyterian Ministers)

Halfway through the first page I stopped reading and started skimming, dismayed that the thread got so bad so fast, pretty much from the first reply.
By the end of the first page I realized the news article has nothing worthy of discussion so really it was inevitable.
I didn't even read anything on the second page because I'm sure it all turned into nonsense like the crap that was in a couple other recent threads.

Then where are the tax loopholes which are within my resources to find, and jump through?

Well if you read or watch any news at all you can trip up over this kind of information all the time. Presuming it's not Fox on cable.

Excecutive Excess 20011 was covered in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, USA Today, Chicago Tribune, The Atlanic, San Francisco Chronicle and Denver Post to name but a few.

You just gotta look or open your ears and eyes. Rather than making misinformed statements and claiming them as fact.

Details vary between nations but for the US and UK they are very similar. Especially when US citizens are gaining more and more influence in UK politics.

That's not quite the same thing as avoiding paying taxes on what you already make, though. I suppose the amount you pour into building the church initially would be deductible, but that's a huge chunk of your income gone; who knows how long before you'd start to see enough return on the investment to be worth it. (Keep in mind that any money you personally make from the church is still subject to income tax just like any other job. And that people will be rather skeptical of a church whose head pastor is some local gazillionaire.)

I think I've said it before, but it bares repeating:

Grazr, you're a good dude. Keep at it.
