Also, I dont care how L33t it may sound, I dont think many people are going to go onto a map with Z's instead of S'.

Its mainly a sniper deathmatch with a timer. Im still working on the grass not sure if its good enough for first release, In lamest terms yes a CS style shooter but with bows and piss lol.

I had another idea for a mod/map for scouts but that will be later discussed.

If you have any ideas how I should fix the ground let me know. I want this map to be community made eventually.

Use a blend-texture instead of normal textures, make a displacement and search for a blend-texture with detail sprites. Paint some geometry and alpha. And write the right detail sprite file path into Map -> Map Properties.

Then you should have a nice ground with grass. :D

This map will probably be very fun

It's nice and sniper style

I like your props.

Cons:

I know it's early but that could really do with a skybox, to make it look less like flatgrass from gmod. I suggest some sorta mountain :)

Also, I could be wrong but I think that grass is a Half life 2 texture.

I would generally advise some rock formations as it'll make it look more lively and it'll allow more places to move.

I think the rocks by the ressuply locker, are from half life 2 aswell.

Questions

Where do you spawn?

You spawn by the porter potties and the health resuply also by a tree stand so it wont take as long to find one. I will take all your considerations into effect and thanks for the helpful tips. If all goes well I hope to have it done very soon. I will post more screen shots tonight with the updated touches.

Map is still in the works but im designing a website atm. But I have added all the stuff you guys mentioned and it looks great so far. I might have to fix a few hiding spots some look kinda dull looking.

Took just barely its coming along and I still gotta work on my textures. Some reason the grass just wants to stay flat. But its getting there still hoping to have a download ready by the end of the weekend.

That badlands spire is incredibly out of place even for map at this stage, you should remove it.

I played a map in Day of Defeat that was like this. Except it had lights. It was still pretty bad.

Anyway the lesson to be learned is that you should add cover to your map, like maybe some buildings. And also an objective.

Good ideas I will add that and I did add light_envirment finally and the grass looks alot better thanks for the tips and added cubemaps to the metal surfaces. I want to try and release an early alpha by friday after noon. Just so you guys can nick pick at what I need to fix and add and so on like you have been they been a great help :).

Not - to rain on your parade but I do have two major issues with map - everything else is fine and it looks like a lot of fun.

Here's the issue:

Weapons - your screen shot only shows the bow and arrow - what happens if some shows up with their sniper rife?

All of a sudden (if you're the guy with the B&A) I think that you're going to feel like the guy who showed up with a knife to a gun fight.

Are you going to try to limit the fight to just rifles or the B&A? Now that the game is free I don't know if you get the B&A with the game or still have to earn it - had mine before the freeness occurred. If players still need to earn it how do you keep players from not joining the server or do you have to input a server command that strips the rifle from the player - then they ARE the guy with the knife in a gun fight!

The other issue is spawn points.

Hopefully you will have more than 1 per side. If you don't you run the risk of one team overwelming a team by camping their spawn - something like gee I've spawned and now I'm dead with 20 arows in my body. People won't stay long on your map if that occurs.

Other than that, I love the concept - keep going!
