TF2 Fan-made Illustration Calendar - Help needed with HQ Map screenshots

Hello there everyone! I'm new here so I wasn't quite sure of where should I post this, so let me begin.

I'm doing a non-commercial TF2 Calendar (for educational/learning purposes only) which will be compromised of many Illustrations of the characters by me, the Calendar will include:

-1 Illustration of each class (9 in total, 1 for each month)
-1 Illustration of Saxton Hale.
-1 Illustration of the Horseless Headless Horsemann.
-1 Illustration of the Australian Xmas.

12 Illustrations in total for this fan-project. :O

Now why am I posting here then? Well you see I require a little help from the map-making community, I need High-res screenshots of many maps (Custom maps are fine too) to be used as backgrounds for most of the class pictures, the highest resolution you can get.

Any help is tremendously appreciated, and I'll be sure to include the names of anyone that helps me in the Calendar itself alongside all the legal notices.

Please remember I wont be selling this Calendar, is for learning purposes only.

I'll update the thread with the sketches for the Illustrations (once I have them done) on a semi-regular basis, since the project is due in about 1 month and a half.

Is your monitor like 1024x768? I don't see why you can't max out your graphics and do this yourself

I'm afraid that size is no good for print at all, and yes that's the size of my screen :(

I have seen that most map developers can take HQ renderings of the maps, these are actually the ones I need, I think I saw a couple in very high resolution (almost 2000 px).

EDIT: Wow thanks Snark! Those are just perfect!

Glad it will work, but to comment on what you said, there isn't any way in the Source engine to take a screenshot/render at a size larger than your screen resolution.

So there isn't? My bad then

I'm very grateful though! That Valve map pack is like a blessing! It's just what I needed :woot:

They don't really fit the needed resolution But they're big enough to work with, nothing some blurs and textures can fix xD

If you need super duper hi-res, Source Filmmaker lets you do that with the poster feature.

Example:

If you need some doing, just ask me :D

WOAH! That's super duper Hi-res indeed! With such High resolution I don't think I have to blur them at all, besides that won't produce ugly .jpg artifacts.

That's pretty sweet! Would you mind giving me other screens? Any worlds would do, the only worlds that I would have to ask by name are Mann Manor, you know for October and the HHH and a Snow World for Australian Xmas, Coldfront would fit the bill. (only if you don't mind)

You guys are all awesome xD thanks for making this so easy >.<

I'll post some sketches once I actually have some, I gotta finish other projects that come before it first.

I'll draw the Heavy first, cause he's my favorite xD (not to play as though, I'm a Medic)

Off-topic question: btw I wanna practice my skills as a texturer but I'm pretty new to that, I have only made textures for some basic things and a 3-D lego project, does someone know where I can make a thread for people to requests textures from me? And if there's a tutorial around for the TF2 texturing I'll have it as well xD. Thanks!

Hrmph. Stupid SFM. Release it already valve!

Anyway, I'd suggest you take some screenshots yourself of where you like, and have him just take one there at superhighres. Then you get the angle and composition that will work best with your drawing.

That's a very nice Idea! I would take him less time and I'd get just what I need.

So what's the trick for those screens? Opening a server and using no_clip should do it right?
I have never really taken those kind of panoramic screens before X_x

It's noclip, and yeah. And cl_drawhud 0 in spectate mode if you want to take one without anything in the way.

Harvest indeed would make a good one for those fall months, Mann Manor is of course for October.

Btw do you guys know of any Beach-related map?

The idea behind Harvest is that American Thanksgiving is in November. I think a few other Thanksgivings are in October or September, but Americans rule the world so do what I say.

Beach maps... Uh. Whale race? No.
