I thought of two things I think would be cool to see.

1. I was thinking in my current map I'd like to have a little room with a screen pulled down to show the Meet the Scout logo, as if it were the room the short was "filmed" in. A camera would be easy enough to set up with brushes (as is done in Dustbowl) but the screen I don't know if I could do. if made as a model it could be left blank so it could be used for other purposes, I could easily just lay a Meet the Scout texture over it.

2. I'd like to have cardboard cutouts based off the Soldier's "friends" from the Grordbort's comic. http://wiki.teamfortress.com/w/images/6/6f/Grord_1.jpg I think it'd be fun to have, at least.

I got ya covered on the screen and projector.

Still need to make some film and cans though... maybe this weekend.

And the screen front is a seperate tex which I'll compile will a few 'blanks' so skins can be added.

I'll try and get it all wrapped up into a clean zip pretty soon.

Oh cool! An "exploitable" prop! Can you make a template for those blanks too, with an alpha mask for $self_illum and such?

EDIT: Hey, wait, this is a film projector, right? Would there be a way to have, say, a looping video like one of the game mode intro videos playing on the screen?

Yeah, I'm not sure how animating it would go.

Originally I had planned to also do a slide projector which would be better for that. You could have a slide change every 5 seconds or something.
of course it would be huge file wise if you did more than say 5 frames.

I am also going to include a 'light ray', but that might be better done with brushes anyway depending on how far apart they are placed...

Or you could just make multiple VMFs and make creative use of material proxies to simulate the transitions. It would probably take a custom-written proxy, and I'm not up on how to code them, so I wouldn't be any real help there.

ohh I was wondering if the projector and screen you submitted for the assignment had anything to do with this. EXCELLENT. Thank you.
