I tried. But brush-based things don't seem to like me, especially not after what I saw everyone else do. And the restriction on props was annoying for my lighting; I love using lights to set a player's mood. :p
I tried making a complex shape with brushes. Apparently, my vertices didn't merge or something caused a brush face to be smaller than 1 unit, because it told me I had invalid solids and proceeded to delete all of my entities.
I think I'll sit this one out and wait until next week for the next one. Good luck, guys! :D

I'll share some ideas I went through :D

Idea 1: Payload on Mars, starting in cave, then going out to surface in a glass tunnel.
Scrapped due to being unnecessarily large.

Idea 2: Technological tunnel with spinning metallical rings forming walls and ceiling.
Scrapped due to func_rotating not working correctly.

Idea 3: Stalagmite spammed cave, with crystal light shining inbetween the stalagmites.

Scrapped due to shadows being crap and hammer refusing to compile with map-wide lightmap scale of 2.

Idea 4: Underground teleport. Multi-part doors slowly unbolting, lights coming on, and teleport that activates and sends you into white nothingness.

Scrapped due to being more an activating sequence then a cool tunnel and Source not being able to handle 5 dynamic lights on one surface.

Idea 5: Gothic hallway.

I really wanted to join in on this one before I go on holiday, but I recently reinstalled SDK and TF2 won't load, so I can't get the files going.

It was going to be such an eye-raper too! :D

Oh well, I'll post pics when it's done but it certainly won't make the deadline at this rate.

I wished Ravidge used a word other than "magnificent" , because that would fall within the purview of your conundrums of 'philosophy'.
And really messed up the assignment.
