To add insult to injury, he got that money by selling hats. D:

Childs play does good work, but how much medicine can you buy for the cost of a ps3 game? Even second-hand.

I dont know and dont have the energy to check, but if childs play is operating in the USA mainly, then that money is more needed for people without medical insurance, surely? People already in hospital for any kind of long term tend to have medical insurance and are already not bad financially (correct me if i'm wrong here, of course).

Child's play bugs me a bit, since it seems to be gimmicky, and maybe a bit LOOK AT US WE ARE GAMERS WE GIVE TO CHARITY WE ARE GOOD PEOPLE. What's wrong with the NSPCC, or the red cross?

This. I feel that there are much more deserving charities than Child's Play, that actually do more work that make a real difference. Child's Play means that a kid is slightly happier during one of many dark moments in his life, NSPCC means that a kid's dark moment isn't the end for him.

You've never been in hospital as a child have you?

I mean spending huge amounts of time in hospital, not just a few hours stay in the ER cause you fell off you're bike.

Thought not.

It's not the kids who spend an hour or two per year in hospital who need Child's Play, It's the kids who spend several days a week in hospital, for the first few years of their life.

Try and imagine basically LIVING in a hospital whilst you were 7, then again when you were 8, and let's add a third year for good measure. All because you had a disease you couldn't help, or your parents, or the best medical insurance in the world couldn't have prevented.

Granted there are charities that can make a larger difference than child's play, but do not dismiss the suffering of children who have to live in hospital for years because you're fortunate enough to be healthy.
