"Awesome New Theme"

For a university project I have to "learn" a few "tools". So I decided to make a few models and textures.

Now I could make just a few random useless models, that don't fit in any game at all. But I could also just make a little theme pack for the awesome hardworking people at TF2Maps.net!

While I have some ideas for themes I could use, I am convinced that you fine folks have some awesome theme-ideas that you would actually find useful!

"But!?" I hear you ask. "You never finished anything you made, and what you label finished looks like it was made for the poor and Irish! How can I trust you?"

As impossible as it is to answer a question like that, you actually have nothing to lose, maybe a few seconds of the time you would otherwise use to just stare at the empty wall in your map you don't know how to make less empty. Then you realize there is a glimmer of hope and you will reply to this thread anyway.

Current Awesome Theme Ideas:
  • Flowers, Butterflies 'n' Rainbows

Yeah I'd be pretty interested in a nature set, or some sort of woodlands set so that people could make maps on mountainsides with nice bushes etc. Also: please have reflected models of whatever you've made, especially rocks!

The Back To the Future pack:

Includes stuff from the era that back to the Future 1 is set in.
E.G a diner, a chocolate milklshake, some awesome cars etc.

Ooh, diner stuff would be sweet! If you do this, I'd like to see an old-style metal oscillating fan too. Possibly with animated modes, but just a static version is plenty acceptable.

Thanks for the suggestions :D

The main suggested themes are Urban style (or diner, with Back to the Future as inspiration) and Nature (Autumn?). So I will re-watch Back to the Future tonight and make some sketches for both themes. (Attempt to, I fail at sketching)

As for the Spy theme, I am either too incapable or lazy to find that thread. But if you can post a link here I'll consider it :)

Don't hesitate if you have any other theme ideas. I do want to start ASAP though, I only have 2 more weeks left to finish it :)

I'd really love to see urban.

One other theme I could think of would be colonial, with large houses with verandas looking out over savannah and small wetlands.

I decided to go with the Urban theme :)

I made a lot of sketches which I will use for the models I make. But I do still need a pic for an awesome 50's style car.

I will, however, not start until the 8th of July, due to a planned vacation and some university projects I need to finish soon.

You can still come with suggestions for models, textures, overlays and particle systems you would like to see in the Urban Theme, and I will consider them.

I find the lack of plants disturbing.

I'm sitting here trying to figure something out and I really can't come up with anything better than the nature and urban stuff. There really is a huge lack of both in game, would be cool to see us fighting in the streets and the woods!

If you're doing an urban theme, you have to have a trolley. Probably sized to fit on the standard train tracks so we won't need special tracks for them.

And a fire hydrant.

Car suggestion: epic Ford Thunderbird, ala American Graffiti.

Also, I'd like to see some sort of hedges or a "mowed lawn" texture, which I think would apply to a kind of "town/neighborhood" urban theme, but it might be different than what you have in mind.
