Problem creating server to test map

I'm assuming this has something to do with my computer, but I can't find anything about this specific problem anywhere.

When I try to start a server (max players set to 1, Private), any map I load has major clipping issues. It is not a problem with my VMF files because it happened when I just tried to sort of "explore" Valve maps. Player characters either float when walking off ledges or clip right through models.

Since this happens even with the maps that came packed with the game, I'm concerned that I won't be able to test my own map for bugs in time to release it for the upcoming contest. Has anyone else had a similar problem?

oh man yes I know what you mean and I can't remember what to do so that it doesn't happen

I know this is very useful but you can fix it/avoid it

Have you tried typeing in "map <then map name here>" into dev console? (no < >'s just a space ebtween map and the full file name) for example "map arena_bobo_b2".

Then you can just add bots to test.

This worked. Haven't tried adding bots yet, but it got rid of the noclip issues.
