There's loads of tutorials in the subforum up top with topics on almost everything, but there's no overnight miracle pill for learning advanced Hammer wizardry. As long as you know how to make a brush and place a spawnpoint, you're off to a good start.

I just started mapping a week ago, and I have to say that Hammer is quite easy to use once you get a hold of the basics. If your map concepts are strong, you should put forth the effort to learn the program. I honestly can't imagine anyone who would take you up on this because an understanding of how Hammer works changes the way you design the map in the first place anyway.

Just make what you can using ideas. Then make what you can. You'll probably scrap what you make but that's fine. Just keep on mapping and scrapping until you get skilled. Then try making something and go through with it till the end.

Depends on what 'every now and then' means. If it's more than once every two hours or so, it might be bad. If it's once a day or something like that, don't worry about it.

You could be making it crash. There are a few things it doesn't know how to handle.

But if not, that's too much.

well its kinda like once every 15-20 mins

couple of things to consider:
having many maps open at once eats up more memory - can make crashes happen more often

carving is memory intensive, also the results are usually undesirable. don't carve if you have been

using the undo and/or redo keys in quick succession can cause hammer to throw a fit and crash. make sure the undo/redo operation is complete before executing the next one.

moving everything in the map in one go can be memory intensive (depends on the quantity of contents in your map). this can lead to crashes.
