Curving Ramp - Oh God, my brain! (Help!)

So I was trying to make a ramp around the perimeter of my circular CP room, and after fiddling with vertexes and clipping for an hour, I realized my ramp ended up slanted inward, to the point where it was unclimbable. So, yeah. How can I make a ramp that curves as it goes up?

Also, thanks for all the help, guys. You've answered every one of my dumb questions without patronizing me. So...

OH AND ALSO my water is invisible... will it show up once I'm out of fullbright?

Not sure about the ramp, but yes, once out of full bright water should work jsut fine. BUT if it doesn't you have a leak (you may have one now, you should check).

Also, with the amount of vertex editing your doing its possible you have an invalid solid error. You'll have to click alt+p to find this out (you'll see it and it will take you to the solid).

Could you post a screenshot of what you have and maybe ms paint what your trying to get? might help with the quality of help you'll get.

using twister to make it out of displacements is probably overkill for a mostly-flat surface, you just need to cross-clip your brushes from above so the top faces are tris

You could have straight segments with an upward slope, with level triangles at the corners, like I did around my octagonal building in koth_helix.

The method Fubar linked is pretty much the best, easiest, and nicest-looking. I've used it in Capricorn and, well, just look at it.

Thanks for all the help; in the end, I went with triangulating the brushes and doing vertex edits. It came out a little rough (Hammer kept "fixing" the blocks for me and refused to allow most of them to be valid geometry) but with some clever texturing, you can't tell (even while going up/down it).
Here's a picture of the results for you nice people :D
